Splendid Sea View Resort in Kata

Horrible, hard beds, poor service, unprofessional reception although he tried his best, no extra blankets or pillows, delayed service, elevator doesn't handle more than 4 people and starts beeping, cleanliness not up to even 3-star hotel standards, no breakfast options, cheap filter coffee with no foam, no cookies or snacks with it, cheap plastic furnishing, cards stopped working 2 days in and they gave us a master key as 'cards needed battery', inconvenient single bathroom labelled as 'ensuite' on booking.com. Who gave this property 4 stars? Who's writing all these reviews? The only decent thing is the rooftop view. Mediocre location too, everything is 30min away

The location, up on the hill, has its pros and cons. If you want to be in contact with all the action of the town, it’s too far away for walking. But if you want some peace and quiet, & wanna be close to the nature & get the views: it’s perfect. But not the nicest part of town…

All of the staff were always helpful all of the time and took our feedback and processed it as soon as possible. Sometimes even in the middle of the night, for example when the pool pump above our apartment was running loud.
My sincere appreciation to all the staff working there.

Unfortunately, hygiene and cleanness could be improved a lot at the resort. The mattress had yellow urine stains in one of the rooms. The duvets, in both rooms, had to be switched because of similar yellow stains and brown blood stains. Absolutely unacceptable.

To be fair, they were replaced immediately, upon our complaint.

The grounds around the resort (on the seaside and also on the “jungle” side ) are unfortunately quite dirty, with a lot of rubbish. Unfortunately, we see this quite a lot in Thailand: Environmental standards are not the same as EU.

Overall, nice modern apartment layout with good air conditioning in almost all rooms. We had two bedrooms. And an excellent sea view. See pictures…

The main central pool at the bar is nice and the small private pool up above our apartment was also nice. Both with great views of Kata town & bay.

The mattresses were unfortunately very hard and rather uncomfortable. But you get used to this.

In summary, we were disappointed by the resort and could not understand the high rating in Booking.com
We should’ve paid more attention to the lower review ratings on google.com
