Breezotel in Patong

My friend and I booked a double bed (Standard easy) room to share, there were no reviews at the time, however we thought it was a great option as it was a very comfortable room. Albeit the only window looked out onto a 2d palm tree scribbled in pencil on the wall of the building next door, the rooms at the front have a small balcony, which we probably should have asked for an upgrade. There was a wardrobe to place our clothes and hang our new suits we'd bought, with a little safe inside, though we didn't use. Could have used some extra shelves in the wardrobe for folded cloths or staff should move the safe onto the floor which seems to be secured to the shelf benchtop.

The bathroom and bedroom were larger than we'd expected on arrival and my travel partner liked this hotel the most. There was a small bar fridge in the room underneath a nice sized bench, fridge was stocked with snack foods and beverages and handy for putting take away food in that we bought as extra snacks. There was a decent sized TV with many channels, I think it had subtitles

There is a common use bathroom as well on the ground floor, so you don't have to go to your room if having a meal downstairs or while smoking on the cute alfresco dining patio which is nicely offset from the street, the stairs to the second floor are a little steep, not sure if there is a lift however its good exercise. They have decent wifi. We didn't dine here, as we were trying to save a little extra money, so we mostly ate cheap Thai Food just around the corner at a street stall (turn right) on Phengmueang. Close proximity to the Jungceylon Shopping Mall where there is a Big C supermarket to buy cheap crisps or snacks or food to make sandwiches, also for best barter shopping check out the underground stalls accessed from the malls underground carpark which is not obvious to locate, get directions from New life hotel manager who is from Greece and a pleasure to talk with.

Location was great, stayed for 3 nights. We didn't hire a motorbike, taxi or tuk tuk to travel around Patong, as two fit adults can walk easily to get everywhere even to the Patong beach. Use a back pack and buy plenty of sunscreen, towels, an umbrella while walking and wide brimmed hats. If you go out of season (April-Oct) you will get harrassed by street hawkers and massage ladies trying to sell their wares probably more than usual, recommend visiting Bangkok first to learn how to react and handle, however no thanks with hand gesture is often sufficient. China town in Patong was not too far, but very quite and not many stalls were open. The Banzaan market is a must see and eat. Upstairs hosts the food court stalls, prices were excluded on most of the menus except a few at the end, though the food looked delicious. Ground floor is the fresh food market which is a photographers dream. Also there is a BBQ outdoor restaurant right near the hotel intersection that is very cheap and great experience.

Asalha Puja Day on 30th July and Buddhist Lent Day (Wan Khao Phansa) on 31st July meant it was illegal to serve alcohol and seems drink alcohol in public, mind you Patong seems to rely on westerners with many more bars and restaurants catering to them than I'd seen during my whole 2 week Asia trip. Hint buy duty free spirits in Kuala Lumpur for your travels and drink in your room!

Hotel manager booked a taxi to take us to the airport to fly out, really good driver which is rare! I think the only thing New Life hotel lacked was its own personal a map guide to Patong beach city, which need only be a mud map and maybe also an option for the chef to cook food brought by guests at Banzaan market. You can get a good map at most of the tourist travel booking stalls around town.
