Diamond Resort Phuket in Bang Tao

I I stayed here with friends back in June. The resort is in a quiet location near BangTao Beach, which was nice for a more relaxing stay. There are a few dining options around the area, but we found ourselves traveling a little further out for more variety.

We stayed in a 3-bedroom unit, which was fairly decent in terms of space and facilities. However, our first impression wasn’t the best, the toilets in both bathrooms weren’t properly cleaned and had stains of sand and other obvious residue when we first checked in. This was disappointing, considering the price point and otherwise nice setting. Over the few days we stayed, there was issues with hot water and the lighting as well, but the staff was readily available to help us fix it.

Overall, the resort itself has potential if you’re looking for a quieter base near BangTao, but the cleanliness needs some improvement.

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights in this beautiful hotel/apartment suites, here is my honest review about DR in their Deluxe suite double :

Room : 8.5/10
It’s decked out with a proper kitchen— a toaster, a kettle, a microwave, an induction stove and full sets of cutleries. Hairdryer, ironing set and drying rack for clothes are also available. The room is acceptably clean and spacious. The only reason why I couldn’t give it a 10 was because there was abit of an ant problem in the room. there were ants above the bed and on the sheets upon arrival. There was also quite abit of bird droppings on the balcony and balcony chairs.

Amenities : 10/10
Lovely pool decked with sunbeds, a nice usable gym and they also offer a free shuttle service to Bangtao beach. Can’t complain about it really.

Breakfast : 8/10
A nice selection for breakfast— taste wise was average, but could do with more Asian options. Although I can understand the lack of as their main demographic are not Asians, at least not in the season I was there for.

Service : 6/10
This is where it gets iffy for me. Don’t get me wrong, there were some members of staff who were excellent, for example, the bell hop who guided us to our room and the security guards out front were exceptional. However, there were some members of staff who were.. let’s just say a little biased towards their main demographic of the hotel. It is very clear that the hotel’s main customers were Russians, and to be very clear I don’t mind it at all, in fact it doesn’t even bother me. However, the issue I have is that customers should all be treated equally, and service should be a first come first serve basis. There were multiple times where members of staff have allowed priority to them and service them first even though it was quite clear that I had been there first and they had blatantly let others cut infront of me even though they clearly came later. If it had been once or even twice, I could have brushed it off as an accident, but to have it happened at least 5 times in my 4 days stay, seems a little bit obvious. I am not one who complains about such a thing (can see my multiple reviews for other places) but at this establishment, it was so evident that I couldn’t not mention it. I hope this can be looked at as the hotel is actually really fantastic and I would love to be able to stay here whenever I return to Bangtao and also recommend it to any of my friends visiting. I am simply asking for all customers to be treated fairly and equally as we are all paying the same prices to stay at the accommodation.
