Reviews
Even though it's been five years since it opened, it still feels like it's only been open for a year or two. The interior design and materials used for the decor are top-notch, with great quality and excellent maintenance, truly standing the test of time.
Hygiene: The overhead shower in the bathroom had a lot of limescale and rust stains, but we brought our own disposable shower head, and everything else was very clean.
Environment: The soundproofing was poor; I could clearly hear noises from the hallway, possibly because my room was close to the elevator. The street noise from motorcycles was also very loud, and privacy was compromised as residents in the building across could see directly into my room.
Service: The front desk service was very slow for check-in; I waited a long time for both check-in and check-out. However, I really liked the staff at the pool area; they were very friendly and enthusiastic.
I always choose Rosewood hotels wherever I travel, but I feel that the Rosewood Bangkok didn't meet my expectations. If I wasn't so fond of the Rosewood brand, I might have opted for Dusit Thani or Capella instead.
On the second day, I was moved to a higher floor room, which was the original room type I booked. The third day was my partner's birthday, and I asked if they could arrange some decorations. It cost over 11,000 THB, which I felt wasn't worth it, though the complimentary small cake was a nice touch (I have photos to prove it). The breakfast area was lovely, and the staff were very attentive and enthusiastic. It was à la carte, and I tried it all three days. Nothing was spectacular, but the beef noodles and fried eggs were decent.
The saltwater pool, decor, and views were quite nice, and the staff were proactive in offering water, towels, and watermelon juice. Room service was also excellent, with turn-down service, water, and tamarind candy placed by the bed.
Regarding the room change, manager Fiona communicated promptly, but that's as far as it went – no further gestures were made. Overall, the service staff were very warm and thoughtful, but the quality and maintenance of the facilities were lacking. The ceiling in the lobby restroom was dripping, and the toilet in my room wasn't functioning well. The management seemed to brush off issues, perhaps prioritizing Caucasian guests.
There's a damp smell throughout the entire Rosewood, not to mention their signature fragrance. This really shouldn't be the case for a hotel of this caliber.
**Design**
The hotel is 30 stories high, with a design inspired by the Thai 'wai' (Sawasdee) greeting. The architectural exterior is unique, with a low-key luxurious and modern-retro design. The hardware is impeccable. You take the elevator to the 7th floor for the lobby, where the Rosewood's exquisite design and aesthetic beauty are fully showcased. However, the overall public area style is a bit dim, while the rooms are bright.
**Location**
Located in the core business district, directly opposite Central Embassy, surrounded by shopping malls. You can walk out and find everything for shopping, eating, drinking, and entertainment. The massage place opposite is cheap and comfortable, making me want to go every day. Bangkok traffic is notorious, but the Rosewood's third floor connects directly to the Skytrain and a BTS sky bridge, making it very safe and convenient to go anywhere. It's so enjoyable to return to the hotel and relax after a long walk, or to shop, come back to drop off your things, and then continue shopping. It's also a convenient 15-minute walk to the Erawan Shrine, and very close to the famous Dior golden building and LV cafe.
**Room**
I booked a deluxe double room, a basic room type, for two nights. I specifically requested a high floor in advance because I heard rooms facing the street can be noisy. Upon arrival, the front desk said they upgraded me, but I was still only given an 11th-floor room. I recommend a higher floor for better views. The welcome fruit was very simple, just longans, nothing else. Others mentioned design key cards, but perhaps that's not for the basic room type. The room has super large floor-to-ceiling windows, and from a high floor, you get expansive views of Bangkok's bustling cityscape, with the skyline within reach. The rooms start at 42 square meters, which is generally sufficient. There's a walk-in closet, an entryway, and a sofa area. The room's color scheme is gentle and refined, with hollow window grille designs, a white and gold palette plus Thai carved screens. The bedding is comfortable, and it comes with a Dyson hairdryer and a smart toilet – basic amenities. Soft drinks are free, but snacks and alcohol are chargeable. The turndown service was quite simple. The bathroom vanity has an unbeatable view and excellent lighting.
**Facilities**
Books and artworks are displayed on every floor in the public areas, adding to the overall refinement. The pool is a saltwater pool, but the pool view is average. The Spa and gym are both good. The restaurant is very photogenic. I love the Rosewood's lighting and soft furnishings. The ceiling design is inspired, full of details, and it's the best-designed area of the entire hotel, with a great atmosphere.
**Service**
The staff are generally polite and friendly. There's a young man at the front desk who speaks simple Chinese, which made communication easier. After check-in, a butler escorted us to our room for a room tour. The restaurant service was also very attentive, maintaining consistent quality.
**Dining**
Breakfast is a semi-buffet. The boat noodles and eggs Benedict were delicious. We didn't get to visit the North and South restaurants, which is a small regret for next time. Lennon bar is a must-visit rooftop bar with a retro style, offering cocktails for 450-550 Thai Baht each. It boasts over 6,000 vinyl records; you can choose one to play, and there are live performances too.
Just a 3-minute walk down the alley opposite the Rosewood, there's a massage place called Pitipapa. Call ahead to book; it's absolutely fantastic.
The Rosewood is a typical city hotel, perfect for a city walk and urban vacation life. It offers a sense of relaxation in the city center, bringing a great feeling of happiness.
Surprise one: During the pre-arrival email correspondence to confirm our booking, I mentioned it was our anniversary. Upon check-in, the hotel provided a complimentary celebration cake. While the cake itself isn't worth much, the thought behind it truly touched us.
Surprise two: Due to a last-minute change in our itinerary, we needed to add an extra night. Initially, both the hotel and Trip.com informed us that the Premier King Room we had booked was fully occupied, so we had to switch to an Executive Room. However, a day later, Emily informed us that to ensure we had a better anniversary experience, they were upgrading us back to our original room type, free of charge. If I recall correctly, Emily was the lovely lady who checked us in. She deserves a special shout-out here.
There are many others to thank: Nana and Manow, our housekeepers, who kept our room meticulously clean and tidy every day. The charming Thai girl with braces at breakfast who proactively asked if I'd like an extra coffee to go. The unnamed staff members at the concierge desk on the first floor who, upon learning our airport transfer driver hadn't arrived, took the initiative to use their own phone to contact the driver. Another staff member, seeing us wait for a long time, offered us sparkling water while we waited. And the foreign staff who helped with our luggage. Although I couldn't remember all your names, you all represent Rosewood Bangkok and made guests feel a genuine warmth. I believe this is precisely why I choose Rosewood Bangkok among so many other five-star hotels. Rosewood Bangkok will undoubtedly be my top choice whenever I visit Bangkok in the future.
