We had a nice experience here! Compliments especially to the friendly doorman — he left such an impression on me because he greeted us so enthusiastically every day.

Check-in was quick and easy, and we were offered a cold roselle juice (yum). The building is quite nice, with an impressive lobby area.

Our room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfy, the shower hot with good water pressure, and they had actual conditioner. WiFi was fast, and housekeeping was thorough every day and kept replacing our amenities even though we didn’t need it, lol. Plus we had a great view of the amazing wat nearby. So beautiful! Some areas where our room fell short were that the shower needed a regrout, and the hair dryer was veeeery weak (but all of our hotels so far have had terrible hair dryers, so maybe that’s just how it is…?!)

There is a laundry, but only one each of washer and dryer, and it’s outside of the building across the parking lot, so we didn’t use it. There was a bag of detergent provided in the room when we were there.

Location was beyond excellent! Close to both the MRT and BTS, and has a private turnaround area for taxis/Grabs, so take your pick really. This particular combination is kind of rare, actually, since the two systems don’t overlap a lot. We picked this location over Sukhumvit at Asok because it’s closer to all of the cultural sites. There’s a morning market literally across the street, so we never even tried the breakfast. There is also a night market, both of the food and the flesh variety, though the latter is easily avoidable if you wish (it’s not seedy tho). To be honest, the night market felt really touristy and the options were quite limited, whereas the morning market was almost all locals and we got such amazing food there. There were also a loooot of malls and massage places in the vicinity, of all varieties and price points. There’s also a Starbucks and Burger King literally out front, if you want that, lol.

I will note that some of the other commenters here write that Asian people don’t receive as good service as westerners here. I wanted to add a data point in the other direction. I didn’t particularly feel any difference, as an Asian person, but this is my experience only.

Great service, clean and quiet room. It's a really nice place overall, my only complaint is that there isn't a 7-Eleven nearby, which makes it a bit inconvenient for buying things. Otherwise, everything else is really good.

The location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk from the BTS station, making it easy to get to various attractions. There's a night market and bar opposite the hotel, which gets lively in the evenings, and a 7-Eleven is very close by. I heard the hotel breakfast is delicious, so definitely book a room with breakfast! We had lunch at the hotel restaurant, and the Hainanese chicken rice was really good and suited Chinese tastes. The service was great! It's also very secure as you need a key card to access the guest room floors.

Lovely hotel but location lets it down slightly!
Nice spacious rooms, great hotel facilities inc. good gym and nice pool. Breakfast had a great range of options including good vegetarian options and staff all very friendly and helpful. Check in was very busy and a little chaotic but this was not the Hotel's fault. Location is what let's the hotel down as it is on the outskirts of red light district which is not the most Ideal location if coming with family

Really nice hotel, looks super luxurious and breakfast is the best, all varieties. Just walking across to main market .

Must try the chicken rice at the hotel restaurant. Not expensive and the quality is so good

The hotel has a very beautiful lobby and setting. The doormen are active and have positive attitude. It is just opposite the Patpong Night Market and is very convenient for everything. However, from my experience, sorry to say it is not a 5 stars hotel.
The entrance of the hotel to check in area has 2 levels of mezzanine with steps. However there have no ramp for trolley luggage. Beware of that.
I stayed at 7th floor and facing the road. Room is very basic and decent. But the sound proof is bad, very noisy during the night. Always woke up by noises from different rooms, moving tables or something. Can hear the next room switching on and off the light switches during the sleep. There have no indication on the switch to let users know which is the area for it. So we just have to press different switches on and off to see.
Corridors are in very low light and old.
Gym is clean and decent sizes. Machines are well maintained and not many types of weight lifting. Only 1 unisex toilet in the gym.
Swimming pool is very small as for 5 stars hotel....always packed with people trying to get sun bath.
No sauna nor steam facilities.
Dont even know if there have shower or changing room around as no indication. There don't even have indication in the lift to show which floor for the pool and gym.
Breakfast is very basic and the highlight will be the chichen wing noodle but is not served daily. Big table and dining area. You have to ask for pot of tea if you want tea for breakfast.

We heard that this hotel is newly renovated and have an interesting history behind it (later we realized that the history is about the Chicken Rice)

We are happy to announce that the history has earned my stamp of approval.

The room and amenities might not be the best of a 5-star hotel, but the quality of the food: from the breakfast buffet to the Chicken Rice, is definitely made from high quality ingredients.

I would definitely recommend anyone who is visiting Bangkok to at least stay for a night in Montien.
