Avani Plus Riverside Bangkok Hotel in Bangkok

This hotel is listed on Google maps as a 5-star hotel. There's nothing particularly wrong with it but it is absolutely not a 5-star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. It's pretty much just a premier inn/travelodge but with better views and a rooftop pool/bar.

Check-in was slow, the rooms are a weird layout with the bathroom as part of the bedroom albeit at least with wooden sliding doors for privacy, and the finishings and paintwork are low quality. Shower and AC worked well and the bed was very comfy. The room has some other weird quirks like for instance there are no light switches by the bedside so you have to get up and turn them off by the door then stumble back to bed in the dark. You'll also spend a lot of time waiting for the lifts, although you can always hear them coming because they play loud music in them constantly.

The breakfast has a good selection of items but I just wanted some yoghurt and granola which proved impossible since they only provide hobbit-size portions of yoghurt in thimble sized containers. So small in fact that the teaspoons don't fit inside them properly.

The rooftop pool and bar are very pleasant. The gym is a typical rubbish hotel gym.

One highlight is that you do have access to the anatara resort next door which feels much more upmarket and is a lovely place to sit next to the river with a drink.

Finally it really annoyed me that every time I bought something a bill would arrive with a service charge already added but then they ask for a tip amount as well. You can have tips or a service charge but trying to guilt-trip customers into tipping twice is shocking behaviour.

Overall this hotel is fine but just don't book it expecting 5 star luxury. You're paying for the view and that's it.

At around 1500, it's a bit pricey, probably due to Christmas. The room isn't very spacious, which would have made it more comfortable. The view of the Chao Phraya River is indeed expansive and beautiful. A special mention for the amazing breakfast!

A very beautiful hotel with 5 star service (Mrs. Freeze at the reception desk and all of the staff would go out of their way to pamper the guests), with comfortable rooms offering a stunning view at the river and the skyline. Restaurants are top notch and the "Sin" rooftop bar is a sight of its own. Mo did a great job recommending cocktails we loved and the DJ was fire! The rooftop infinity pool was on the cold side, but worth it. The pool area was perfect for a break from the hustle and bustle of the town. There's direct access to a mall as well as the sister hotel Anantara, the facilities of which can be used as well. The surroundings may seem a bit meh at first, but the hotels share a private boat shuttle service (with beautiful wooden boats) going to Sathorn Pier (you can go everywhere from there with boats or the Skytrain) and Icon Siam. We loved everything about this hotel. We did not take breakfast there, but other guests liked it a lot from what I heard.

This hotel in Bangkok exceeded every expectation I have ever had and set a completely new standard for luxury, comfort, and service. From the very first moment, I felt genuinely welcomed and taken care of at the highest possible level. The staff were exceptional—professional, warm, attentive, and always one step ahead, anticipating every need with a smile. The room was immaculate, beautifully designed, incredibly comfortable, and offered breathtaking views that made every morning unforgettable.
The facilities were nothing short of world-class. Every detail, from the elegant interiors to the relaxing pool area and outstanding dining options, was executed to absolute perfection. The hotel managed to combine luxury with a sense of calm and privacy, despite being located in the heart of a vibrant city. Everything worked flawlessly, and the overall atmosphere made it impossible not to feel relaxed and spoiled.
Without a doubt, this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. It wasn’t just accommodation—it was a truly exceptional experience that I will remember for a lifetime. I am 100% satisfied and would recommend this hotel to absolutely everyone without hesitation. If you are visiting Bangkok and want the very best, this is the only place you should consider.

Beautiful Riverview Hotel, Friendly Staff, In-house GYM

Perfect view of the NYE Fireworks on the river. Large comfortable, quiet room. Very clean. Good buffet breakfast with lots of choice. All staff super friendly and helpful. Rooftop pool nice but not big enough area around it so not enough sun beds.

Nice hotel situated on riverfront..room was good with great view...however rooftop restaurant was overpriced and food not that good at all...dont mind paying for quality but what we had wasnt

This is a great hotel with wonderful staff!
They have an AMAZING breakfast buffet- one of the top ones I've ever seen.
Our housekeeping lady on the 21st floor, Ket, was incredible, so helpful and nice. Wonderful staff all around.
Highly recommend this hotel to anyone that would like a comfortable, clean, modern hotel. Great value for your money too.

This was our second stay at this hotel and we loved it just as much as the first time. The rooftop pool is stunning and the rooftop bar is amazing. The view from our room overlooking the Chao Phraya River was beautiful. The location couldn’t be better, with easy access to the river boats which makes getting around so convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel and will absolutely be staying again.
