Insight Hostel in Chiang Mai City

Peaceful, clean, and comfortable stay. I’ve stayed here multiple times in both female dorm and private rooms. The calm atmosphere, spacious areas, simple breakfast, and occasional peacock sightings make it a great place to relax—highly recommended.

I chose this location as it is very near Wat Umong, and I prefer walking over any other mode of transport. Unfortunately the streets are so narrow around here, especially without sidewalk, so no joy in walking. If you are comfortable with using Grab, taxis or have your own wheels, not a concern.

Property is lovely, shaded, quiet. Airplanes are loud, but that's just about anywhere this side of town. Unfortunately for me the European in the next room kept running his mouth in phone calls which I could hear through the thin walls as if he was in room with me. Usually not a problem, but please not after 22:00! Hopefully he's not there when you arrive.

Breakfast is bread, butter, jam, bananas and instant coffee. There is a fridge and a crock pot for some limited food prep. The common areas are very comfortable for relaxing, chatting or jacking in to the Net for work. Owner is very kind and staff welcoming.

There are restaurants near Wat Umong, or back out along Doi Suthep Road. Overall a nice relaxing place for a few days or even weeks.

The place is quiet, clean, and has a shady atmosphere. The new building looks charming. The bed is wide and the air conditioning is cool. Breakfast is bread and bananas.

The surrounding natural environment is good and very quiet, making it an ideal place for a holiday and rest.

The accommodation is natural and nice. The bed is very soft. The receptionist is friendly. At first, when looking at the outside, I thought it was a house, but the inside is very nice. I am impressed and sleep well.

On the night of check-in, the petite proprietress and her little boy checked me in (no deposit required). The upper bunk in a 16-person female room had four air conditioners. It was spacious, bright and clean. The mattress on the lower bunk was too thick and easy to hit your head. You had to take off your shoes and there was a stainless steel sand window. The female bathroom was very clean and odorless. I liked the natural environment of the hostel (bamboo, grove, lawn). Filtered drinking water was provided free of charge, as well as a small electric cooker and kettle. There was a free Western buffet breakfast (bread + jam + fresh bananas and Nestle bagged coffee) from Monday to Friday. It was close to the free Umong Temple, but the noise from planes taking off and landing at Chiang Mai Airport was unavoidable.

The booking with Trip.com was easy and straight forward. We booked bunk beds in a private room for 2 person but was told the room wss occupied and not available. We were offered a 12 bunker bed mixed dormitory instead.
The hostel is located outside the old Chiang Mai town, about 15mins walk to Chiang Mai University. It is a nice quiet hostel but because it is getting warm thus it is unavoidable to have mosquitoes. The place is clean with a nice dining space with a microwave,fridge, hot water and washing basin. The hostel provides coffee and tea. They also have white bread jam and butter in the morning for us. The only set back was that there's a moldy smell for our bunker room. We believed that the place had not been used for awhile and the place had been surrounded with trees. There's an laundromat nearby.
