Sabai Sabai Chiang Mai in Chiang Mai City

Good points:

- Great Location: relatively short walk to the old town and in a quiet part of central Chiang Mai.

- Big Rooms: we had a suite and it was enormous, with two bathrooms and loads of space.

- Cheap: we chose this hotel as it seemed like a steal for the price, and it does make for a great budget option.

Bad points:

Poor Service: there was pretty much no customer service at all. At no point did we feel welcomed, just rushed through everything.

Staff didn’t even say hello in the lobby, didn’t say good morning at breakfast and instead just questioned you for your room number as if you were stealing breakfast etc.

Never asked how our stay was when we checked out, so clearly no interest in guest satisfaction or improvement. They were too preoccupied making sure they had checked the mini bar.

Housekeeping seemed half arsed, didn’t even seem like they cleaned anything other than make the bed. They even forgot to give us towels one day, but they took the dirty ones. A very apologetic housekeeper came up in the evening with our towels, which was nice but shouldn’t really happen in the first place.

Hard Mattress: the mattress is basically an orthopaedic mattress. It’s rock hard, which is fine if you like that sort of thing but it feels like a strange choice for a hotel. Not comfortable in the slightest.

Poor Breakfast: not many options as it’s a relatively small hotel, and the options they did have were generally poor quality and in low quantities. We ended up skipping breakfast every day and paying to have breakfast in town as it was so awful at the hotel. They also served one of the worst coffees I’ve ever had, it was so burned/bitter that I couldn’t drink it.

Generally an okay hotel if you’re looking for a functional stay for just one night. It’s a cheap and relatively clean hotel in a good part of town. But that’s pretty much it. If you’re on holiday, this hotel doesn’t feel even remotely special and lacks many of the things you’d expect when staying for several nights when travelling.

I thought It should be nice, but when we checked out, they said we took the laundry bag, which we should pay 100. But the fact is we never used it. How did the bag get lost? It was taken away by the last guest or the cleaning staff's words on purpose. We don't know! Because I had to catch a plane, I was pressed for time, and I didn't negotiate it too much! Only know that we pay for other people's mistakes. No matter how much money, this makes me very uncomfortable.
