Excellent location, the hotel is clean but needs a lot of repairs: main door not closing well, cracks in walls, loose window on the shower. Shower was also just warm, not hot. Many times we did not see a conciërge, and the food at the breakfast was not always hot.

Grand Old Hotel in Chiang Mai – Faded Glory Needs MaintenanceThis hotel must have been incredibly grand in its heyday. Unfortunately, poor maintenance has let it down—many rooms seem closed off, likely due to low occupancy, which explains why it felt so quiet during my stay.The bed was uncomfortable; I could feel the springs poking through. Soundproofing between rooms is lacking too—I could clearly hear the neighbors talking next door. Aircon compressor was very loud. That said, the overall stay was quite good, probably because there weren't many guests around. With proper upkeep, this could be a very comfortable spot. Worth considering if they invest in renovations or a simple upgrade.

Fairly decent location with old city and markets very much in walking distance. Not sure how well gym and pool were maintained but was fine for price point and fact its holiday season. Fairly satisfied.

A newly renovated, standard hotel. The rooms match the pictures, with plenty of functional spaces. The master bedroom has easy-to-use controls for lights and air conditioning; the AC is so cold I had to lower it several times. The bathroom has separate wet and dry zones, and the water pressure is strong. The room is quiet. Breakfast is a standard hotel buffet. There's a long swimming pool, a children's pool, a fitness center, and a kids' play area. There's also a luggage storage room. Overall, I liked it.

This is a fantastic hotel. It is inexpensive, the rooms are great, the staff are absolutely lovely and incredibly helpful and the breakfast is good. It also has a pretty decent gym that I have contemplated using on every day of my stay. Ignore the negative reviews below. This is very good choice if you are looking for a decent value hotel that is quiet and friendly.

As an addition, to add information to contradict something written in a review a decade ago, this hotel does have an elevator - it has two.

The room is big and clean. But, the corridor smell is not very good! The location is very good! Many shops and restaurants near by.

The room was spacious and had all the amenities. I hadn't planned on staying at this hotel, but the one Trip.com arranged for me was very nice. I didn't have breakfast so I can't say for sure.
