Ege Palas was a great place to stay, it really made a difference in my visit to Izmir, especially Meriç, a receptionist, who was really kind and helpful, and spoke a bit of español! Onburo was also very helpful. The hotel is located in a very well connected, safe and beautiful area, almost in front of the sea. I recommend you consider it if you're visiting Izmir.

The rooms are old the view are awesome but the smell in the room from the bathroom was absolutely disgusting and unacceptable, definitely needed to be approved.

I don’t think this hotel deserves a low rating, even though the rooms are showing their age. The real issue was the unbearable smell, which is not the hotel’s fault but rather a problem in İzmir city center itself. I wanted to be fair in my review but also felt it important to warn future visitors.

If you can overlook the city-wide sewer smell, the location of this hotel is excellent—you really can’t beat it. I imagine the nightlife is great as well, though we didn’t go out at night during our stay. One big highlight I highly recommend is dining at Tavacı Recep, which was a fantastic experience.

Overall, aside from a few positives, İzmir is not a place I plan to revisit any time soon.

I would not recommend this hotel. The entire place smells like an ashtray – rooms and even the bedsheets. As an asthmatic, I had to use my inhaler before sleeping because the pillows smelled so strongly of smoke. Although the service at the reception was kind enough to change our rooms because I complained about the smell, the second room had the same issue.
I even discovered a plastic bag full of old cigarette butts and ash hanging on the side of the terrace – clearly untouched for a long time. It was disgusting.

The hotel gives the impression that it was once good, but nothing has been updated in years. Facilities are worn down, everything feels like it’s falling apart, and the air conditioning system is extremely noisy.

Unless you have a compulsory addiction to smoking, I would avoid staying here.

The main reason for the low rate is the annoying stench from a drain in the bathroom and the disgusting shower cabin. Hardly acceptable for one night, even more for four nights but the hotel was fully booked, I was told. A very average breakfast. All in all, poor experience for ＞200 euros per night.

The rooms are spacious and bright, providing a comfortable and airy atmosphere. The bathroom is also large, well-equipped, and very clean.

The location of the hotel is excellent. You can take a short walk to the beach, enjoy the nearby restaurants and bars, or shop at the surrounding stores.

The staff was polite and respectful, making the overall experience even better. The room service was good, and the lady who came to clean the rooms was very friendly, detail-oriented, and patient in her work.

The hotel breakfast was good, with a decent variety to suit different tastes. Additionally, the hotel’s dining area offers a beautiful view of the pool and the sea, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Overall, it’s a great place to stay, combining comfort, great service, and a fantastic location!

I stayed at Ege Palas Business Hotel in Izmir and it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, especially if you value your time, comfort, and sanity. 1. Unstable Internet: First of all, the internet here is beyond frustrating. It constantly disconnects, and when it does work, it's painfully slow. I couldn't even send an email without having to wait for ages, let alone get any actual work done. It's a business hotel, but the Wi-Fi situation is an absolute joke. 2. Stinky Rooms: The room smelled like an ashtray. Even though I specifically requested a non-smoking room, it was clear that smoking is still happening indoors here. The stench of stale cigarette smoke was unbearable, and it lingered throughout my stay. I tried to air out the room, but it didn’t help at all. Definitely not the clean and fresh environment you expect from a "business hotel." 3. Slow Elevator: The elevator is another issue. It takes forever to arrive, and when it does, it feels like it’s about to break down at any moment. I ended up walking up and down the stairs because the elevator was so unreliable and sluggish. It’s not a good look for a place that claims to cater to business travelers. 4. Subpar Food: And don’t even get me started on the food. The breakfast is nothing more than a sad buffet of tasteless, low-quality options. I barely found anything edible, and what I did was underwhelming at best. If you’re hoping for a decent meal, you’re better off looking elsewhere. In summary, I can’t believe I wasted my time and money here. Ege Palas is in desperate need of an overhaul—better internet, cleaner rooms, faster elevators, and food that doesn’t feel like it was thrown together as an afterthought. Stay away!

Needs renovation
The hotel needs renovation as soon as possible. The bathroom has a most annoying stench.
The staff are however nice and hospitable.

I wouldn't recommend.....
Not the best stay. The staff were nice, but the room could have been cleaner and everything is very dated. Breakfast was disappointing given the options that other business hotels typically provide. The gym in particular was in a very sad state, most of the equipment is broken and the available floor space was filled with broken slabs of marble on rolling metal platforms.
