Lapis Inn Boutique-hotel in Istanbul

Perfect location - all major sights are just a few minutes' walk away. The service was particularly attentive, offering advice on places to visit. Rooms are functional but very clean. Breakfast on the terrace offers a dream view. It's a buffet breakfast, but to a southern European standard (not as lavish as in Central Europe).

The best thing about this hotel is the central location. Walking distance to the city train, Hagia Sofya, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, and all food and shopping places. We managed to go and pray at the mosque every morning. Breakfast was good, typical Turkish breakfast, and with the best view of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofya. The only downside to consider is the noise. There are bars and restaurants below the room windows, and it could be loud until late at night. And we just found out, in winter, the AC does not work 😅. So if it gets hot, you will need to open the window.

The view from the rooftop terrace is amazing. It's well worth it just to have breakfast here and watch the night view. The location is also excellent, making it an excellent starting point for sightseeing.

Great place just minutes away from the main attractions. Convenient transportation. Only positive impressions from the visit.

Awesome location. Near to Sultanahmet tram station, 60m. Surrounded by restaurants and hotels. Excellent rooftop cafe view. The room is spacious. I can perform solat without hassle. The hotel is doing renovation, so it effects quality of water in my toilet. The water turns to brown color and have to wait 5 minutes to cleared it. The room has kilat direction, iron and iron board. Really good. Overall it was an awesome stay at Lapis Inn hotel.

I stayed here for three nights in December 2012, and it was a very nice hotel if you don't require any special services.

Good points

- Location

It's right in the middle of the tourist area of ​​the old town, just a few minutes walk from Sultanahmet Station. The entrance is a little hard to find, but it has a nice atmosphere. You can see the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia from the breakfast area.

- Hotel staff are kind

No English problems. I think it was just by chance, but I arrived early in the morning so I just went to leave my luggage and they let me check in and offered me breakfast that day as a service.

- Cats

There is a high probability that there will be a cat at the front desk. You can pet it.



Concerns

- Noisy outside

At night, you can hear loud music from outside. It's not so loud that you can't sleep. You can hear the adhan clearly.

- Quality of breakfast

It's delicious, but the variety is limited, so don't expect too much.

- Bathroom

There is some blackening, so those who are particular about cleanliness may be concerned. I think it is one of the cleanest places overseas.

The building and facilities are a little old and there are no special services, but the location is great and the staff are very friendly, so I would recommend this hotel.

The staff at the entrance were very kind and helpful. They explained things like the Bosphorus tour and the airport shuttle service (although I didn't use it...) in easy-to-understand English. It was also easy to make a reservation for the hammam. It was my first time in a hammam, and it felt really good.
The reason I gave the cleanliness a 3 is because there was a little bit of black mold growing in the shower in my room. I apologize for that. Other than that, it was a great hotel, including the location.
