I really enjoyed my stay at A&o, the room was comfy, I had a few nights of very good sleep, the staff was friendly and helpful. Downsides were that the sink in the bathroom was a bit blocked, I requested cleaning and it never happened, and the fire alarm went off at 8 am on 2 consecutive mornings. Otherwise a very pleasant London stay at a reasonable price and I loved the location.

Location was amazing, just a short ferry ride to Canary Wharf, great little pub the Blacksmith 20 metres down the road and l think that was its best bits.
The staff were miserable we never saw a single smile from any of them.
The breakfast was terrible everything was cold and not much to choose from.
The room was okay but very basic no amenities hair dryer etc….
Booked this place thinking it was a hotel (Double Tree by Hilton) not a hostel bad decision.
It’s a real shame because it could be an amazing place, just a shame the staff weren’t up to it.

The receptionist at check-in on February 14, 2026, was very unpleasant and sour. The room was old and cold, the heating wasn't working, and I couldn't access the room's terrace because the patio door was sealed shut. The elevator creaked and shook every time – far too old. Avoid this place, I won't be back. On the positive side, the young man who gave me a second duvet (as there was no radiator) the next day at the front desk, and the free ferry shuttle across the river to Canary Wharf for hotel guests, plus the view.

My stay here was exactly what I expected for a budget hostel near Canada Water. Don't come expecting luxury service or fancy amenities—it’s very bare bones in that regard. However, the room, while basic, was clean and comfortable enough for a very short stay. The really cool feature is that it’s right on the Thames with direct access to a ferry pier, which is a unique way to travel into the city. If you need a pitstop for a night or two, it does the job, largely thanks to the setting. Also, don't miss The Blacksmith's Arms pub just a stone's throw away. The atmosphere and service were fantastic, and the food was really good.

When we arrived, the guy at reception wasn't very friendly and you could tell he was frustrated with something previously. So we had no information about anything.
The room was a big size, but with the minimum: No television, no hairdryer, no coffee or tea, no kettle, no clean room/do your bed - just if you booked it. The room was cold, so we had to put on our coats inside because the heating was broken and the room was covered with mould.

The positive was the location, especially because you get a free boat to go to the other side of Canary Wharf. And the view

Nice Ferry, room cleaning don’t work, toilet was broken, some staff weren’t really friendly, bath needed some renovation and it was extremely cold inside the room. Plus points tho, beds were very comfortable,

Positives: good location with great views of the river and Canary Wharf, very nice decor and a good bar, food reasonably priced and a decent selection. Also there is plenty of free on the street parking outside.

Cons: Service is pretty poor, un attentive, slow to take orders and clear the table, seems under staffed but then plenty of waiters walked past without coming over.

Lovely gastro-pub feel to the place. Visited this a few months backs to celebrate the birthday of a friend and enjoyed an unlimited bubbly afternoon tea. Portions were a little small, but the bubbly was truly unlimited whilst the tea time lasted. Had expected some real tea too, but that was (unfortunately) not included. Came from Canary Wharf and used the complimentary shuttle ferry across the Thames and back.

Shocking please avoid this restaurant it is massively over priced. Bought a prawn sandwich which I was afraid to eat quite obviously frozen prawns which still looked grey. Bread generic brown bread which was stale the chips with sandwich were cold. Tables outside filthy with over flowing ashtrays.
When I complained they toasted the bread with the same filling i didn't eat it and no refund was offered.
My husband had a salad the lettuce was brown and the chicken was dry with some bottled ceaser salad dressing.
For this we paid £50 the two portions of chips we had were ok but out of a bag £ 4.95 per portion .
What a shame the area is crying out for a decent restaurant the Hilton are missing a trick.
