Very comfortable mattress and pillow. Quaint, semi-quiet location. 5min.walk to King’s Cross.

The Harlingford felt like staying in a home. We made the most of the lovely sitting room with its resident gentle dog and a charming snapshot of the building's history. Our room was small but perfectly functional and clean. The staff were always helpful and professional. The location was perfect for our purposes, to be close to a friend in hospital nearby, with shops and conveniences around. For anyone who can manage stairs, I whole-heartedly recommend this hotel.

As a fellow motel owner, it’s difficult for me to write this review, but my experience left me no choice. Check-in went smoothly, but the problems started as soon as we entered my room.

Room Mismatch & False Advertising
I had booked a king-size bed, but the room clearly had a queen. This was a big issue for me because I’m 7 feet tall and my fiancé is 6 feet tall. When I asked the front desk, I was told that “a king is a queen in Europe,” which I knew wasn’t true based on all of my travels. I felt misled and considered this false advertising. Anyone booking a king bed at this hotel should know it will actually be a queen.

Cleanliness Issues
On top of that, the room was the smallest I’ve ever stayed in, and I travel the world. The size, however, was minor compared to the cleanliness issues I found. There was hair on nearly every surface, including the “clean” linens, and dust so thick I could write my name in it. When I asked the front desk for a broom or vacuum, they refused and said housekeeping wouldn’t arrive until 11 a.m. the next day.

Hotel’s Reaction & Partial Cleaning
The next morning, I showed the front desk pictures and videos of the dirty room. Their attitude shifted, and they asked me to air-drop the photos so they could show the owner. Later, I received an email saying they would refund the remaining nights if I checked out by 11 a.m.—but I was already out on a tour and couldn’t return in time. Instead, I asked them to properly clean the room and address the other issues. When I returned, the room was somewhat better, but I was still finding hair and piles of dust. The large clump I collected in my hand was after the second cleaning.

Difficulty Changing Hotels
I began searching for other accommodations, but since it was the weekend, everything in my price range was booked. Unfortunately, I was forced to stay.

Other Room Problems
As I continued my stay, I noticed even more issues:

The bed squeaked loudly and somehow shifted more than a foot from the wall overnight while we slept.

The room only had three electrical outlets, all located above the vanity. Because of this, my fiancé couldn’t use his CPAP machine, which is a safety concern.

The hotel offered an extension cord, but it would’ve run across the entire room and created a tripping hazard.

Some fixtures, like the hand-towel holder, were loose and pulling out of the wall.

I understand the building is older, but there’s a big difference between an older property and one that isn’t clean or maintained.

Breakfast was good, but given the condition of our room, I couldn’t help worrying about the cleanliness of the kitchen as well.

Conclusion
As a motel owner myself, I know what an acceptable room looks like, and this one fell far short. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel to other guests.

Harlingford is amazing! We spend almost 3 weeks with the hotel and we have a wonderful experience. The room is nice, not big, but cozy and functional and we fortunately have a ground floor room so we don’t need to worry about the stairs. The breakfast is great and the kitchen/service staffs are amazing! The location is conveniently located within short walking distance to train/tube station, restaurants, British Museum , London Library etc and even China towns and SOHO is only 15 mins away by train or 30 mins walk! All the people with the hotel are extremely nice (except for one, the owner of the dog who never talk with us even when we say hi) and caring. Will definitely stay there again if we ever go back to visit London

I had stayed before in Harlingford .I enjoyed staying again last week in that hotel. It's well situated, near St Pancras, and near Bloomsbury. The area is peaceful , the staff is friendly . There is a kettle in the room for making tea and coffee .An umbrella was lent to me on a wet day, and my bag was kept for me on the day I left . The room (on the third floor ) is rather small, but comfortable, the bathroom is fine and I don't mind climbing stairs. I'll come back ! M.S-M

Stayed a total of 4 nights here for less than what 2 nights at a comparable hotel in NYC would likely cost me. I opted for the Superior Single room in the basement. The room is on the smaller side, which is not a problem for a solo traveler simply looking for a place to sleep after spending the day exploring London. Staff were all pleasant to deal with. The property is squeaky clean and is well taken care of. Highly advise that you select the breakfast option when booking, as the breakfast here is in contention for the best I've ever had at a hotel. Finding this hotel feels a bit like striking gold! A note to those who are noise sensitive. There is a pub next door to the hotel that can get noisy. It closes at 11pm, so it's not an all night long issue. Ear plugs or a noise machine are sufficient remedies to this situation.

We stayed for one night at this charming little hotel before catching the Eurostar at St Pancras. Our room on the third floor wasn't massive but the bed was extremely comfortable and everything so clean and tidy, with complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. Considering it's a busy area, the hotel itself seemed very quiet and no disturbance from outside. Bright, welcoming front reception room with magazines, books and games should you so wish to use. We also met Wolfgang the cute little dachsund! We didn't have breakfast as we had an early start so can't comment, but the breakfast room looked nice too. Interesting to read the history of the hotel. We would definitely stay again if we're in the area. Only slight negative was the climb to our room - up very narrow, winding stairs with our cases and of course no lift due to the age of the property, but we are fit 60-somethings so it didn't really bother us. Best to check ahead if the stairs would be an issue. Thank you for a lovely stay :)

This was a great find! Lovely little hotel, staff were so accommodating - we left our bag early and checked in late. Both times, the reception staff were lovely. Amazing breakfast - again, lovely staff and clean as a whistle. The room was not huge but perfectly acceptable and bathroom was a good size and clean and well maintained. Location is in Bloomsbury - good links to the tube but we walked to central London in 30 minutes, which was fine for us but might not suit everyone and could be weather dependent! Overall, a fantastic stay and definitely would stay again.

This hotel is close to Kings Cross Station, and that's the only reason I'd give it a single point. It's really a zero point hotel. We booked a double room for the last Saturday in August. The cost was £210, and we paid in advance. We arrived & the first thing the receptionist did was ask for a copy of our credit card. I wasn't happy about that. We were given a key to a room on the second floor. There is no lift so the first thing we had to do was lug out cases up several flights of stairs. The room itself was tiny - smaller than any single room I've ever stayed in, so how they can class that as a double is beyond me. There was a small bed, a tiny wardrobe, and the world's smallest en-suite with a tiny toilet & minute shower. The toilet door wouldn't close properly & the shower extractor fan didn't work. The view from the window was out of the rear of the property & faced the brick gable wall of an adjacent property. And just when you think it couldn't get worse it did - the Sunday breakfast was available until 09.30. Yes, forget about a stay in bed if you want to eat. For all the above reasons, and the eye-watering price of £210, this hotel gets my vote as the worst ever hotel stay anywhere. Avoid it!

Stayed one night at the start of July. We had a very small room, but that was OK. Nice big bathroom, wasn't expecting bath so that was nice. Shower easy to work. There was no handle on the inside of the bathroom door which made it hard to lock. Nice free toiletries. Plenty of towels. Could do with plug sockets beside the bed. Great fan kept us cool all night. Kettle with lots of tea, coffee and milk. There's a hot drinks machine and ice cold water on the landing which was great. Breakfast was nice, but could've been hotter and definitely need bigger plates. I asked a lady for 2 veggie sausages. Which I never got, shame. The lady who checked us in, around 5pm, was very nice and friendly, and 2 people in the breakfast room where you leave cases before check-in were helpful with our questions. The mattress was so comfy and the pillows were great. Great location, close to public transport and situated in a very quiet area. We'd definitely recommend and stay here again. Thank you very much.
