If you want to give all of your belongings over and be locked out of the hotel and your room until they are ready to let you in the barred and locked front door. I have never stayed in a hotel that’s asks for the hotel key back every time you leave the building. They also ask that you leave your valuables at the front desk. The camera system in this hotel with the main screen looks like this place is watching everything in the building for some reason and you should be aware of your surroundings. This place is shady!!! The building had a health and safety code posting that chemicals in the building were known to cause cancer. This is also near the Tenderloin District. The doors are barred and locked and you have to wait for someone to let you in. No one ever answers the phone so imagine standing outside in a bad neighborhood waiting for someone to come open the door whenever they decide to. If that’s for you, this is your place. Look at the pictures and tell me you would want to stay here

A charming vintage property with polite and helpful staff. Don’t come here if you all the bells and whistles of a corporate chain; come here if you want to go back in time 100 years and bathe in a claw foot tub and show your kids what a pay phone looks like. Don’t worry, sheets are new and clean, towels are replaced daily, and it’s a comfortable stay. That said, San Francisco has a large unhoused population, and this neighborhood isn’t immune.

My father and I stayed at the hotel for several days while visiting San Francisco. This hotel was a time capsule. We met the owner several times and he has done his best to keep the hotel in its original condition when it opened in 1912.

The hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and well managed. Outside the hotel was a bus stop and subway station.

If you are looking for a simple quaint hotel this fits the bill. Thanks

The location is very good in the city center, the transportation is convenient, and it is not far from the supermarket. Very satisfied.

Save money, stay here.
It's a basic hotel but the staff is excellent and the room is so so affordable.

The bathroom was cramped and old. Lacking space to place items and hang cloths. The neighborhood is dangerous at night and noisy. Got woken up mutiple time to people yelling outside.

Its an antique hotel, established in 1912 with some vintage feel. Friendship and helpful counter staff. Feels extremely safe. Centrally located, near to everything, shopping places and the Union square. Tram station is 5min walk from the hotel and numerous good eateries around the hotel. Value for money.

It was really close to the station. It was a little bit cold in the room because there is no airconditioner.

I've stayed in shared bathroom hotels in San Francisco before, and this one is as good a value as I've found. My room was clean, my bed was comfortable, and the staff was very friendly. The bathrooms and showers are spotless, and I never had to wait. The location is convenient, with a great deal of the city within walking distance. There are homeless people outside, especially late at night, but no one has bothered me. The internet is free and has been mostly good enough to stream TV shows, which is a plus, since the TV in my room is old and doesn't have cable. But if you need a no-frills place to stay at a good price, this place should meet your needs nicely.

After tackling the breakfast biscuit sandwich special at Dottie's, I wasn't hungry again until dinner. There's a reason this place had a line out the door when we arrived 15 minutes after opening. Not only was the food delicious and plentiful, but the coffee was good too (they'll send you off with a to go cup at no extra charge on your way out). Our server was awesome and even though the place was packed, we never felt rushed or forgotten about. Yes, it's a little pricey, but my plate was worth every penny.

Best meal I had in San Francisco. Had to wait outside for about 45 mins, but it was well worth it. I had the Salmon Scrambler and was very happy I did. The service was great as well. Prices were very reasonable for the food and service I received. Next time I am in town, I won't have breakfast anywhere else.

Came on a Sunday for brunch and it was packed. Staff was very kind. Food we got was well worth it. Omelettes met high expectations and fresh bread and jam were really great. Only reason one star deduction was there's no lunch service on weekends, and one with our party did not want eggs, so menu is extremely limited on weekends for someone who didn't want eggs unfortunately. Otherwise positive and we'll be back.

Had two breakfasts here while we were in San Francisco and could have had two more if there would not have been huge queue outside the restaurant one hour after opening. The prices were on the higher side, but for good reason. The portions were huge and really tasty and service was amazing. Although sometimes the waiters came to ask a bit too often if we would want more coffee or if anythings was okay, but of course it is better that way than to have to ask for service.

Also this place the most wonderful gluten free pancakes.

Believe the hype and the queues.

Good place for earlier breakfast.

Nothing to rave about. A bit more upscale than a diner. The food is below average. I ordered sunny side up which were over cooked. The bread want dense and needs more yeast. The potatoes didn't have that crispy pan grilled/seared exterior. The wild boar sausage was sweet.

Oh also be careful in this neighborhood. It's a busy Street but not safe. Our car window was smashed and my bag was stolen. Be careful.
