DC International Hostel 1 in Washington

Among the worst experiences I've had in hostels in general. Also was robbed and stolen from multiple times and when I asked the primary staff member to check the cameras (a very aggressive old foreign guy I'll touch more on later) he said he "has no remote" and there's no way to check without said remote. Well the criminals seem to be aware of this as every day someone complained about missing belongings, so expect lots of stuff to go missing.

It feels like being in jail, the amenities are non-existent. For example they have a dishwasher and no dishes, no cookware, not even silverware. (Like how much is a full set of dishes and silverware? That's just laziness, and you see this same laziness constantly throughout the building) the main staff member is this old man with a REALLY bad attitude who likes to start confrontations with guests constantly (I witnessed this on MANY different occasions).

He even made a bunch of bizarre aggressive comments to myself as well, despite the fact every other guest loved me and I had no issues with anyone. He would make complaints that I "go in and out of the building too much", as one example. Very peculiar. On another occasion he lambasted me because I had a cigarette in my hand and accused me of violating the "no smoking" policy (yes, inside the building) even though I had clearly actually just come in from smoking.

And to add to the hostile atmosphere the place next door got swarmed with police in my short time there. Glad I never got assaulted! I suggest the mad old man fix his attitude and stop treating your guests like inmates! Not coming back

❗❗don't make my mistake and be lured by its low cost, they will ask you to pay for more❗❗ The rude and scammer owner didn’t know which beds were available and entered rooms while guests were sleeping. He demanded $280 more than the Booking.com price, then said he couldn’t guarantee the safety of our belongings if we stayed. We left and were rebooked elsewhere. Unprofessional and stressful—AVOID.

Zero communication when requesting information or help, would not stay here if revisiting

This propeyhas a very big potential dut to its location BUT it is dirty and doors give noises ehen open snd close.. rooms dirty and restrooms dirty. They jave kitchen but no tables nor chairs where we can eat..

This is the worst place i ver seeing I'm not recomend they never let me go in the place
And didn't give me the refund

Rooms
I took a private room but it has no windows. They crank up the heat so high you cant sleep without opening the door but you cant open the door because they have people yelling at night at each other for some reason

Property
The property is in shambles. It has one bathroom on each floor. There is no shower on the second floor so you have to line up each morning if you have to take a shower on the 2nd floor

Cleanliness is non existent since you find hair everywhere

Safety wise this place is also questionable because seeing the people who live downstairs you would feel they are homeless

On our last day the second floor bathroom got clogged, first floor door is locked from inside and the ground floor has poop all over so we had to go outside

Never again

Horrible!!! Was extremely hostile and unwelcoming. Did not honor my reservation. It was 11pm at night. This was my first time ever visiting Washington DC. While there I overheard guest complain the water in the bathroom was overflowing. I do not recommend anyone stay here. I lost my money as well. It would be nice if you all refunded me like the rude employee said you would. I ended up going to a much better, cleaner, welcoming establishment.

Cannot recommend - staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. The rooms are not clean and the shower (singular!!) is so dirty, as well as the one toilet per floor as well. We did not feel safe at all.
