Highly recommended! ! ! At first I was attracted by the history of this place, and later I found out that this was a hotel built in 1926, 99 years ago. In the room, you can strongly feel the weight of history and the atmosphere of the times. But in sharp contrast, the facilities and all the equipment here are very well preserved, very clean and tidy. If I come to Washington in the future, I will choose to live here again. Lie in the centuries-old history and feel the charm of American culture.

The facilities are old, after all, it is an old hotel for many years. The lighting is dim and it feels a bit gloomy. The air conditioning in some rooms does not work, and you need to discuss with the front desk to replace it.

The room was not bad, in fact it was quite large, but it was cramped after being divided into several small rooms, one for dressing and wardrobe, and one for small kitchen and small dining room. The window of the room was facing the office building next door, and it was very close, so the curtains could not be opened, so the window was just a decoration. The location of the hotel was good, it was very convenient to go everywhere, and supermarkets and restaurants were just a few steps away.

The building is over a hundred years old, surrounded by historical sites, next to the University of Washington, which is equivalent to the area near Tiananmen Square in China. I personally think it is better than traditional five-star hotels, such as Marriott and Four Seasons.

Hotel Lombardy is a well-located hotel housed in a 1920s building. It would be a perfect choice for any vacationer. It is close to the White House, the National Mall, Georgetown, George Washington University, and many good restaurants and shops. It is far enough away to be comfortable, but with easy access to subway stations, etc. The staff is very helpful and polite. The decor is deliberately retro, well-coordinated to create a feel that cannot be replicated today. They use Frette linens and bath towels, the shower pressure is excellent, and the water is hot. Luckily, the air conditioning does a great job of keeping the hot weather at bay. The room is meticulously clean, which you might have taken for granted before the pandemic, but is harder to guarantee now given the rife labor shortages. You should find a nearby parking space for your car because a) you are in the city and should use other transportation options and b) their valet parking is $52 per night. By the way, this price is likely to be found in other hotels in the city, so it is not excessive compared to other places. The breakfast served in their cafe was welcome, and our waiter Gamil was professional.

The room was absolutely perfect. The only issue was not enough lighting, and the heater couldn't hear the room. It was brutally cold the time we were there. As far as the service, oh my goodness. Calvin was absolutely the most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with at a hotel. We had 6 bags and all he did was grab them from the holding area, and dump them in front of us. He didn't offer to help or anything. I was shocked with his attitude.
Then, our roomservice meal had a hair in it, yet they still charged us.
At check out the gentleman who was helping us couldn't exert any energy to actually stand up. He literally stayed in his chair the entire time. I asked for an itemized statement (which I still haven't received) but he couldn't get the printer to work.
Other than the rooms, which can be found anywhere, I highly suggest staying at another hotel in DC. Their entire staff need hospitality training.

Made several fraudulent charges on my card and even the receipt I signed did $350 which included abs automatic gratuity charge of $52. I still tipped another $20 on top and they charged my account $390 instead of $370.

Please take cash if you go here. They will charge your card however they want and will not pick up the phone is you call back. Never going back!

The bartender charged an unauthorized tip on my card on May 14, 2017. It is unethical and illegal. The white man with gray hair who was at the first bar, at the entrance, authorized a 20% tip.

I had intended on leaving him a tip because I appreciated the service, but when I received my receipt, I saw that he had already given himself a tip. I signed for him to have the tip since it was less than what he would have received but, nonetheless, this needs to be brought to the business' attention.

My friend was also charged an unauthorized tip and didn't realize it until I later brought it to her attention. Auditing them may reveal that many people are targeted by this type of behavior.

(Some of the reviews below also point this out. I reported this to the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint with the DC Consumer Affairs Office).

This place was skeezy at best and deplorable at worst. When we walked in it reeked of pot inside the restaurant. We were there for happy hour in a back bar but we didn't see service so we went to the front bar. The somewhat quirky bartender informed us that the back bar was indeed open and to look for "a cute Asian girl." We returned to the back and found said bartender only to be informed that the back bar didn't have happy hour prices. At this point I was frustrated enough to just buy my drinks without discount. The decor is some mishmash of the last 4 places that probably shared that space. We had some appetizers which were pretty good including the hummus and sliders. We didn't stay much longer after that.

We just left this place and we really enjoyed it. They had a live band playing smooth jazz and the bartender/wait staff were really attentive. The crowd here was very laid back. I went in with my wife and my father (who is in his mid 50's) and we felt right at home. We enjoyed a hookah and my dad ordered the Bob Marley drink which was really cool looking.

I didn't know what was waiting for us as this bar is underground and it was very very dark. Once we entered, surprise! It's a karaoke bar! Luckily, most of the singer sang really well and we really enjoyed the night. Affordable drink is another plus!
