Shanghai Blue Mountain Bund Youth Hostel in Shanghai

Cleanliness could be better. Loved the kind of people this hostel attracted, met my current best friend there while staying there in February. Shared toilets are pretty gross. Great location though, but a bit difficult to find as in the building there's no signs for this hostel outside.

Blue Mountain has several hostel properties in the Shanghai area, this review is for the one located near the Bund. The actual hostel is located on the 6th floor of a multistory building and there is no sign outside, so look for the building number. Getting here from Pudong airport is super easy - you can take the Maglev > Longyang Rd station > Nanjing Rd station and walk about 5 min, or just take the line 2 the whole way to Nanjing. Location is good-- close to Nanjing Rd and the Bund.

The staff is very slow in checking visitors in and out - I stayed here twice for stopovers and always had a wait, even though there were multiple staff behind the desk. Staff spoke a bit of English but were not particularly warm or friendly, so definitely take the initiative to ask questions since no additional info beyond the basics will be offered.

Facilities were decent, on par with other hostels I've stayed in. Dorms have lockers & you can borrow a lock for free. Mattresses are thin but sheets are clean and you remove them yourself when you leave (just try to ignore the stains on the mattress pad below...). They ran out of 6-bed dorm beds on my second stay and "upgraded" me to a small bunked twin room that I shared with another girl. This room had more amenities but was significantly smaller and was right by the loud showers. Bathrooms are clean and water pressure is good, but of course remember to bring shower shoes!! A bonus to this location is the nice patio.

Overall a decent, cheap place to spend a night on a layover!

Booked a three person room, lighting is terrible in bathroom and room but has ac and a pool table in the common room.

A decent hostel in the centre of Shanghai. Hostel has a nice roof terrace and decent WiFi. However, there are limited facilities (toilets and showers) and these can be quite far from certain rooms.

Looking for convenient price for rooms, hostel is more than relevant. Nice persons in lobby ready to help anytime, and very good organization of all necessary information for travel in Shanghai and as well as in other famous cities and places.
Do not expect comfort and food, only good bar.

Accidentally went to the wrong branch after writing down the address wrong, so didn't go to the one I had arranged for. Despite this they were very accommodating and I was able to get a room. The room itself had everything you could need. Only qualm would be a lack of hand soap. The location if very central. Very good overall

A little hard to find since it is located on the 6th floor of a random building. I had a single room so had my own bathroom. Room was ok-sized, reasonably clean. Bathroom was small but also clean enough. Location is really good and just a few minutes walk to Nanjing Road. Generally, I'm not really a hostel person and don't use the common areas others usually appreciate. Nevertheless, staying there for two nights was ok for me. Next time, I'll rather pay for a hotel room though. The girls at reception were a bit too casual for my taste but were kind enough to order me a taxi to the airport.

Good:
- The room was of decent size and quite comfortable.
- Nice common area and huuuge terrasse.
- The location is very good, surrounded by lots of places where to grab a bite (including cheap breakfast material) and close to the metro and bus stops.

Not that good:
- I didn't like having to leave a security deposit of 200 CNY because we requested 2 access cards (the initial 100 CNY was enough, the deposit is for the room, not for the 5 CNY plastic card...)

Firstly, once you enter the building , you must go to the 6th floor . When you arrive you must pay cash, and pay a deposit of 100rmb. I had a private double room with no window, which got upgraded to a room with a window. This was my second time staying at a hostel. Let me be the first to tell you, this hostel is more like a hotel. Room was very clean , and you have your own bathroom and fridge.You are also only a 10 minute walk from the bund skyline sightseeing view, and close to a bunch of convenience stores, clubs and restaurants . Best bang for your buck I promise. P.s. the oriental tower turns the lights off at 10pm. So get out there early so you can see it and take pictures!

Good location. The bathrooms and toilets and passage way from the rooms to the bathroom area needs refurbishing, the room was spacious and clean. Beds were decent, staff is very friendly. Would be great if the hostel organised more events.
