Where to stay in Marseille

Front desk were competent, rooms were reasonable priced being so close to the train station. Our room was clean but cramped. Air conditioner worked very well. There was some noise even when the window was closed. Very small elevator and had to walk up one flight of stairs to catch it.

Superbly situated near the station rail trips to the surrounding towns and places of interest.

Train Station Hotel Location is the biggest selling point of this hotel. It is SUPER convenient to the train station ... ~3 minute walk, so no matter what time of day you arrive, you can easily get there without having to worry about transportation. You can also store your luggage there after checkout, so if you aren't leaving the city immediately, you can go exploring and know your luggage is safe...

It is close to the train station and perfect for early morning train travel. Staff were very helpful. It was just what we needed for one night stay and early morning train. Thank you!

Shower had slight mold signs and there was dust in theroom. Breakfast was good, but floor was very sticky. Room can be noisy due to emergency vehicles outside, but did not prevent my sleep. Stairs are unequally spaced and angled which may represent a tripping risk for people. Staff was great!

This a simple hotel right in the city centre for a good price. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Room had everything I needed and nice powerful shower. Free buffet breakfast with plenty of vegan options. They had a water cooler for filling your own bottle.

We loved our stay at Escale Oceana Hotel! Great and friendly staff, always willing to assist. Our room was spacious, comfortable and has every thing we needed for our stay. It’s close to restaurants, shopping, and safe to walk around even late at night. We’ll definitely return!

It was absolutely comfortable staying. All staffs are kind. The quite room gave me a good sleep. The attic room was very cute. I was able to reach to old port just 10 seconds from the hotel, that was very convenient.

Clean, efficient, comfortable, very friendly staff, reasonably priced. L'estaque is a bit outside the centre but there's a good bus service (35) towards the centre and you can get a good deal on a travel card for 1, 3vor 7 days. I would definitely stay here again.

Easy to find and easy to get parking within the premise. Staff friendly and extreme helpful. The air conditioner works perfectly. The budget 3rd bed is clever... Though the shower is a bit tight, the toilet room is a better idea for 3 people.

A lot of dining options were about a 10 to 15 minute walk outside of the property. Keep in mind that they do siesta so it's not easy to get a late lunch or an early dinner. Perfect base for an early train. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Easy check in. We arrived late and had a room in the rear building. Comfortable nights sleep with no exterior noise. We loved our stay at the Alex Hotel last week. It's in a perfect location for getting around the city. We were surprised with an upgrade to a prestige suite when we checked in! Massive room which we loved, just wish it came with a safe. We also enjoyed the breakfast in the morning.

The hotel is very well located, there is absolute calm, an excellent hotel for resting. I had a pleasant stay with my wife and we will definitely come back when we come back to Marseille. A big thank you to the receptionist who made us feel very welcome and the room was clean.

Average hotel - overall ok, but a few things to improve. No night personnel, hairs on the bedsheets, very old windows. However, it was able to accept us in a very short notice.

The hotel overall was okay for the price. Parking was offered at 10 € per day which good. The room ac unit was extremely noisy, making hard to sleep and no solution was offered. However, Soso at the front desk was amazing. We had an issue back home that needed immediate attention and she offered us her personal phone to make the international call. She truly saved the day!!

The room had been updated but the access was weird and you had to kneel in the shower and the a/c was extremely noisy. Otherwise great. Good breakfast. Parking was off site.

The pool was our favorite part. Loved the long veranda to enjoy our coffee. Room was clean and nice size with comfortable beds & pillows. Air conditioning was amazing. Service was good except we did not get our room refreshed any day of our 5 night stay. Would stay again.

Staff were nice and accommodating. I originally had a room facing the street and it was too noisy for me to sleep so I asked to be moved and they were able to do that the next night. It was a much quieter stay having a room away from the street.

It's very close to the train station and not far from the pier. It's a bit like a youth hostel. The shampoo and shower gel are included, but it's hard to lather your hair. I recommend bringing your own shampoo. The toilet seat is also mottled, which affects the appearance but does not hinder use.

Location was excellent for me since it was my first time in the city. It was easy to navigate to main attractions.

Gentleman who checked us in was ok and lady who helped with taxi in the m’ng when we checked out was ok. It,s a nice and quiet place. People are really nice here, The only issues are that the window in the room is not airtight, which makes the room cold during winter, and that the hot water pressure in the shower is quite low.

It's not very close to the city center; attractions are all a 30-minute walk away. Taxis are okay, and parking is available. The rooms are quite small, and the breakfast is average. Overall, it's nothing special, just average for the price.

It's pretty good; the environment is elegant and quiet.

I had a late check-in. The restaurant had closed and there was no bar or vending machines. Nothing in the mini-fridge and no shops or restaurants close by - had to go to bed hungry.

Stayed here for a solo trip. Hotel is recently renovated and rooms are excellent - comfortable bed, good shower, quiet. Had a nice balcony to the rear of the property too. Staff were lovely - really helpful.

Everyone at Hotel Amista was fabulous. Our luggage was delayed and the servers in the bar loaned us their adaptors so we could at least charge our phones. The breakfast was lovely. While the street construction is kind of a pain, the hotel is in a great walking distance to the port, cafes and shopping. The front desk was very helpful. The room is quiet and we stay here again and highly recommend staying...

Nice place to stay in this part of marseille . For summer time there is a swimming pool . Don’t expect to swim there it’s more to get refresh . The rooms are just ok but very clean . Impossible to set the a/c as it was still in winter mode ( in May ) they offered a fan but not really helpful ( 25 degrees in the room ) . The people were extra nice and helpful, that’s what made a difference honestly...

Was very happy with the experience at the hotel. I got in late was checked in by Iqbal, he speaks English and French fluently, was extremely nice and just pleasant to be around . Lovely staff. The fact that we had to climb to the first floor via stairs with luggage to get to reception was bad. The lift from the first floor up is tiny, barely enough for a person and luggage to go up. Our room was reasonably clean and comfortable but it had a cockroach. I assume that is normal in older buildings but I don't like them.

Hotel is conveniently located within walking design to Marseille Opera House, Metro, La Canebiere and Centre Bourse

Central, Great Value with good service The hotel faces onto one of the city’s main shopping streets, so is very central and convenient. I was granted early checkin on arrival which I was grateful for after a very early start. The room was quirky and reflects the style of the old building it is in. Everything worked ok though and the staff were great.

Location was great. Safe at nigth. 10 minutes walk to everywhere. Room simple but clean and confortable. Super silent at nigth. Bed was confortable. Bathroom clean. Change towels every day.

Pros : The staff is extemely nice and reactive. The hotel is very well placed, and the rooms are clean. Cons: The hotel needs renovation, and maitenance work. We hear noises coming from the street, so sometimes it's not that easy to sleep.

This quaint hotel suited our needs as it was near the Marseilles train station. There was nothing notable about the room. It was clean but quite small. One “beware’ note: the website showed a cute breakfast room, so when asked if we wanted to add breakfasts to our meal we said yes. Breakfast consisted of various kinds of pre-made individually wrapped muffins and pastries, individually wrapped cheeses...

We've stayed at this hotel before, and there was a very unpleasant smell when we entered the room. The hotel is very poorly maintained compared to other Première Classe hotels we've stayed in. The evening receptionist was very pleasant and smiling. I give it two stars.

Decent hotel with comfortable bed and reasonably clean and large rooms. Still a bit noisy. Not so because of the outside noise but because of lack of internal insulation. The breakfast is a bit substandard with no real coffee (only granulated coffee). Ok otherwise.

Extremely small room but for the night it was perfect. The location was amazing. Right on the waterfront of Old Port. So many restaurants and shops right at the doorstep. Check in was easy to as well and they held our luggage for us before we could check in and after checkout when we went out exploring. The bed was somewhat uncomfortable but the bathroom was a good size. I'd definitely book here again

Hotel very well located on the old port. Room 401 is a family room and has the chance to have a beautiful view of the port. The whole hotel is exceptionally clean. Friendly and smiling staff. The only positive point for this establishment is the location (Old Port)! The rooms do not correspond to the photos, there is no elevator so good luck with the suitcases and if you have to leave the hotel early in the morning, there is not even anyone to open the door, I found myself stuck for 15 minutes! Great location near everything. Paid €55 per night which is a good deal for Marseilles in the off season. Cheap and cheerful. It's a marathon of a staircase, but the beds were comfortable and you could control the temperature with an aircon unit. Bathrooms were hilariously bad. Although private, they are tiny, smell of mildew and the toilet is not bolted to the ground so its quite the wobbly experience...

The hotel was in an amazing location .. the person at the reception who spoke English was very helpful. The person who only spoke French was very unhelpful - and a bit rude too. The reception area reeked of cigarettes. Other than this excellent hotel.

The hotel is in a great location and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Hugo and Lisa greeted us kindly and were extremely professional throughout our stay. The room was spotless, well organized, and thoughtfully prepared with many small details for our comfort. The only downside was that the bathtub felt a bit unsafe.

The location, the personal are awesome! But the size of the room with single bed and that of the toilet are really small. If it is only for the overnight, it is ok.

The location is very good, next to Marseille Cathedral. Not far from the cathedral is the old town, the Euro-Mediterranean Museum and the old port, which are all within walking distance. The subway and bus are very convenient to the train station and other attractions. The room is clean and tidy, without any odor, the bath water is also good, and the breakfast is simple without vegetables.
