We were unable to cancel our reservation that I had made as a surprise for my mother, who has unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer. I don't know what else to say other than that out of 10 of my calls, 3 were answered only to tell me they could not refund me.The level of inhumanity to not make an exception for this case, is truly astonishing.

I read the reviews and was honestly scared to book this hotel, but overall, most of the reviews were exaggerated In my opinion.
Sure, the hotel is a bit old and the rooms have standard moquettes and old showers, but rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. There's no AC or fridge in most rooms unless you book the Comfort triple. But, if you visit during colder days or during the winter for a few nights, it's not bad. Rooms are clean, despite the reviews I was surprised to find clean rooms and good smell.
Service is good, nice people, friendly staff (though 1 or 2 guys spoke terrible English...), most of the clerks and employees are nice and friendly. Breakfast is a little small...not much choice but good quality of food, juices and such, I had an early checkout and couldn't get a breakfast bag even if I had paid, a shame, but it's no big issue as it was cheap to have the breakfast included with the room.
As for the location, it's great. Very close to trams (9, 12, 15...) and a very central location, 20 minute walk from the Dom (10 minutes with public transport ) and a 7 minute walk from the Neumarkt. Zülpicher Platz is a very nice area to have a quick bite or buy something nice for yourself.
Overall, for what you pay, the hotel is good. I wouldn't suggest a longer stay, but for short trips up to 4 or 5 nights.

the room is clean, the owner is gentle and responsive. The only problem is there is no sound proof at all - considering this is a general flat problem, we can still bear with many random noises coming from outside or inside the building. But there are two permanent residents who share the flat with us cooking and talking to each other from 23pm to 1am, just outside our room. we felt weird to tell them to keep quiet as we are the 'temporary guest'. there must be some rules to be set up if the owner wants to mix long-term and short-term stays.

The front desk staff was kind, the location was good, and the breakfast was delicious. The shower didn't have hot water, but it was hot that day so it wasn't a problem.

Even though a little bit outside the centre, the location is still at walking distance (25 minutes ) to the Dom. The hotel is a little dated but every thing is clean and in good working order. And the breakfast is great and plentiful. Very good value.

Poor, pics look good but... reception aren't interested in helping, parking, it has 3 spaces. Rest is on road €16 for 4 hrs or 10+min walk from multipark €25, staff tell different tales on reserving spaces, you can/can't, free or to pay,
No air con, so need window open, street very noisy.
Room quite small, bathroom even smaller, door doesn't open fully, it's that small! With a very noisy fan.
Breakfast, tables slow at being cleared, food, breakfast etc slow at being refilled.

Title: Very Disappointing Stay – No Water, Broken Elevator, Not Elderly Friendly
We had a terrible experience at Hotel Leonet in Cologne, Germany. When we arrived, the elevator was out of service, and we had to carry two large luggage up to the 3rd floor — all while traveling with elderly family members. No help was offered by the staff.
Even worse, when we got to our room, there was no water at all in the bathroom. We couldn't shower, flush the toilet, or even wash our hands. This is completely unacceptable for any hotel.
There was no proper explanation or compensation, and overall, the hotel felt very poorly managed. I would not recommend staying here, especially for families with elderly people or anyone expecting basic amenities like running water.

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
From the moment we arrived, the service was bad. The staff were unhelpful and showed no basic courtesy. The elevator was broken and no one or offered assistance — a huge inconvenience, especially for guests with luggage or elderly companions.
The cleanliness of the room was unacceptable. The toilet was filthy, with obvious stains left uncleaned, which was absolutely disgusting. Even worse, the shower didn’t work at all. We were forced to wash ourselves using a small stream of water from the tap, which was completely impractical — especially for older guests. This hotel does not meet even the most basic standards of hygiene or comfort.

We had booked a double room and specifically requested a non-smoking option, despite this, the room smelled strongly of cigarettes, we were moved to another room, however, it was uncomfortably hot and lacked air conditioning. our room was on the third floor, Initially, the elevator was working, but it broke down on the evening of our first night and was still not repaired after two nights, forcing us to use the stairs each time.
Breakfast lacked variety, and the microwave was also broken, meaning there was no way to heat milk for a hot latte, which is quite unusual. upon arrival, we discovered the room did not have a refrigerator, so we asked reception to store the gel from our diabetes medication kit in the freezer, to our surprise, upon checkout, the gel was simply handed back to us defrosted, when we asked why, the manager responded in a rude and unprofessional tone, claiming they couldn’t offer such a service, even though it’s a basic and reasonable request.
Additionally, the rates are extremely high considering the level of service and the hotel’s facilities.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against staying at this hotel, especially for families seeking comfort, professionalism, and quality service.
