Mare Hotel Apartments in Agios Nikolaos

Stayed for a week at the end of October. We booked a studio apartment and were given a sea view even though we hadn’t paid the extra for that! The apartment was lovely and the balcony was amazing. Huge and looking directly over the small shingle beach which was only a minutes walk away. The room was cleaned every day and we had clean towels and bedding twice during our stay. We booked the all inclusive package. The food was great. Plenty of choice and always fresh and well cooked. However, if you are looking for a traditional all inclusive package, this is not it. The bar does not have staff on duty during the advertised hours. We only managed to get drinks on one night of our stay. The bar person also works in the restaurant and obviously can’t be in both places at the same time! However, if asked, he will go into the bar area to serve you. This didn’t detract from our experience as we are not big drinkers but I feel the all inclusive tag is misleading. A “Full Board” description would better describe the offer. The hotel is perfectly situated to explore the local area. There is a free bus which runs every half hour from a bus stop just at the bottom of the road. There is a tourist information shop near the bridge over the lake. They have free maps which we found very helpful. The lake is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. There are lots of pretty tourist shops also around few minutes walk from the hotel. Most places are easy to get to on foot but the area is very hilly so may not be suitable for people who are less mobile. All in all, a nice holiday at a great hotel. Just be aware that the all inclusive package may not be what you think it should be.

What a delightful little hotel, Sophia and Maria were fantastic hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Perfectly positioned just outside the main town area with lovely restaurants and bars around too.

My daughter and myself have just spent 10 lovely days at this hotel .it's the best hotel I've ever stayed at .it's spotlessly clean with really hard working cleaners .everyone s so friendly and helpful especially Maria on reception Sofia in the restaurant and manos in the bar .nothing is too much trouble for them , we were always made to feel welcome. The rooms are lovely and beds comfy with beautiful views from balcony .the hotel is situated in a lovely part of the old town with a short walk to the lake and lovely shops bars and tavernas .we will definitely be returning .

I can’t recommend this hotel enough, it far exceeded our expectations. My mother and I have stayed in many different hotels and this is by far the best. What makes it really outstanding is the care and consideration of the staff, they go out of their way to help you and are always available for your every need. The food was lovely, home cooked and a good selection every day. My mother is a vegetarian and they catered for her by providing several different vegetarian selections each day. Our room was perfect, with a sea view and comfortable beds. It was cleaned every day by a lovely lady who works hard and is very polite. Thank you especially to Sophia the restaurant manager who always greeted us with a smile and couldn’t do enough to help. And to Manos, for greeting us and taking our cases on our first day, for service with a smile in the restaurant and the bar. Thank you also to Maria at reception, always helpful and going out of her way to find things out for us. This was a wonderful holiday and it was the employees of the Mare apartments that made it!

These reasonably small apartments may not be as luxurious as some of the bigger ones, but they make up for it in so many other ways. The staff are incredible, and never stop making you feel as welcome as possible. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent for a small concern and the service is swift and personal. The location is idyllic, with a beach and good quality bars and restaurants a few metres away. Thank you Maria, Sophia and Manos 💙

Had a great all inclusive holiday, wonderful food, wonderful staff, to many to mention their names, every single one of them was great, no problems whatsoever getting drinks from the bar, which were spot on and were the same brands that the bars and restaurants charge a lot more for, just a stroll to the small beach with some bars nearby where it was nice to sit and watch the sea, the football, and the world go by. Some parts of the hotel/apartments could do with a spot of TLC, but overall we had a brilliant holiday, I would certainly return if it wasn't my philosophy to try new places. The only downside is that Agios Nikolaos is quite hilly, but that has nothing to do with the hotel.

Trip Review – Olympus Mare Hotel Apartments (Stayed 10–15 September, All Inclusive) We arrived in the early hours of the morning after a private transfer (around 50 minutes), and were greeted with a lovely handwritten note and food waiting in the fridge for us – such a thoughtful touch and very much appreciated after travelling. I can only imagine how long the coach transfer might have taken, so the private option was well worth it. Breakfast (8–10am) was a buffet with a great selection, and we honestly couldn’t fault it. We chose the all-inclusive option mainly as a backup since we like to eat out, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of all the meals. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner were consistently very good, and the timings worked really well for us. What really makes this charming little hotel stand out are the staff – they are so friendly, welcoming, and nothing is ever too much trouble. The hotel is also spotless, well-maintained, and in a great location close to restaurants, bars, and the beach. We tried a few local tavernas for dinners and lunches as well, and the food in the area is excellent. The beach and nearby bars are fantastic, and the overall atmosphere of the place is relaxed yet vibrant. For the price and location, this hotel is a real gem and I would highly recommend it. If I had to suggest anything to make the stay even better, it would be: Suggestions for improvement: Restaurant ventilation & seating – It would be great if the restaurant could open up seating along the rear wall to outside, allowing more fresh air to flow through. The air conditioning wasn’t very effective, and at times (particularly during lunch and sometimes dinner) it became too hot to sit and enjoy meals comfortably. Shower facilities – The communual downstairs bathrooms would benefit from a full update. At the moment, there’s little to no space to hang clothes, lock the door, or keep items dry. The open shower cubicle design also floods the entire room, which made it difficult to get ready, especially after leaving our room at 10am and needing to shower before a late 21:00 transfer. Adding more hooks, shelves, and practical storage and enclosed shower would make a big difference. Thank you for a lovely vacation xx

Excellent and central location .
The clean and uncomplicated construction and decor is simple Greek . The breakfast is very good . Clean and very friendly. Bravo!

Arrived very early in the morning (3.30am), key and lovely note waiting for us. Unfortunately room had spiral staircase to bedroom but we managed for the night. Next morning room was changed - no problem. New room had afternoon sun and great view of beach and sea. Staff were brilliant (Sophia, Maria, Anastasia and Ana to name but a few) Good selection of fresh, well cooked food for breakfast and dinner (didn’t eat lunch)
