Kumba Hostel in Chania Town

My friend and I booked to stay in this hostel for 3 nights, we’ve stayed in hostels our whole trip and this was by far the worst one we have ever been in. We ended up leaving after one night and booking another place to stay for the rest of our trip. That one night we reluctantly had to stay was the worst nights sleep either of us have had because we felt so unsafe sleeping. As 2 young female travellers, we were put in the same room as 2 older men, one of which we were informed lives in the hostel and has done for 4 years. We were also speaking to other travellers and they explained to us that this man who lives there has poor mental health, and we were also told that both men in our room had made inappropriate comments to other girls. As a result of this, we asked at reception if we could be moved to another room, which we knew had spare beds in it. They were unfriendly and said it was not possible. There is no staff on during the night, which isn’t a big problem, however, there is no way of getting in contact with anyone who works there at all during the night. This also made us feel very unsafe and vulnerable. Any other hostel we have stayed in has had no issues with a range of travellers old, young, male and female, however, hearing what we heard about these men and how the situation was handled resulted in us feeling unsafe and uncomfortable. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

has been a pretty bad expereience altough the ubication is good and the hostel is clean the staff in the reception was terrible , unexperinced and untrained , the atmosfera is ok but the hostel stincks to petrol.
