Where to stay with kids in Kato Daratso

I must add the rooms had the best air conditioning system I’ve experienced! I was able to sleep comfortably in 40 degrees as well as being able to blow dry my hair in the evenings without melting!! The Hotel main building was also immaculate, the manager Peter has done a great job in the renovation

We have just booked to come again in 2026 which will be around our 18th holiday to this hotel. We have always loved coming here. The changes that have been made over the last few years are huge

The team at the Greek restaurant helped surprise my husband with a birthday cake on our first night too. My sons loved the water slides and pool and the evening entertainment was fun

We stayed for a week, and our kids loved the kids’ club activities as well. The pool had a great depth for both children and adults. The food was also good, with plenty of choices

The animation team and the activity courses were fantastic — I especially enjoyed the Pilates and the light and refreshing Aqua Fitness sessions

Our favourite was the white party disco. Although the location is remote and there isn’t a lot to do in the local area the hotel is big enough without feeling trapped. We would definitely visit again

There was often a queue at the AI ​​bar, as there was only one person to serve the guests. You could also get food for breakfast and lunch at the pool bar. Very helpful staff in both the restaurant, bar and reception

The sea-view rooms are spacious and have a kitchenette. Their terraces open onto the hotel's beach or a small fishing port. There are also rooms overlooking the pools or the main road or in quieter corners of the hotel

Unfortunately, hotel guests "reserve" the sunbeds in the morning, so it often happened that although there was no one in the pools and around them, we still couldn't find a free sunbed

There are several smaller and larger pools between the buildings, which are not heated

We were moved from the village resort to the beach resort due to being under subscribed at the end of the season

The staff is polite, helpful, and friendly. The service includes breakfast and all-inclusive. The breakfast buffet offers a range of dishes in line with general European trends, supplemented by a few Greek specialties

Great stay at the Minoa Palace. The hotel facilities are great and never felt over crowded, although the hotel was fully booked. The swimming pools and the beach are perfect. Spa is really nice, a bit expensive

The Spa was beautiful- I enjoyed their amazing cool pool and jacuzzi all to myself. What let this place down was the very poor quality of food we ordered with room service

The spa pool & jacuzzi waters are kept so cold, it's impossible to get in. And they should upgrade their gym, which is not compatible to a 5-star hotel (extremely old/bad equipment)

Good overall, well managed but has some are Good overall. We stayed in an imperial room on the beach side of the hotel. Very good facilities overall, but some of the rooms need to be updated and soundproofed

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed at. They have for sure the nicest staff ever. So accommodating. Great food the breakfast buffet is so so good. Definitely will come back and recommend highly.

The hotel had a very chill vibe, good entertainment but very child focused- but separate from bars so we just stayed at the bar and played uno it was lovely!! There was not many teenagers so hard for the kids to make friends- it’s not a friend making hotel

Once some men came in from outside of the hotel without wristbands and drank beer and ate food and swam and then when they got figured out left- it must be a thing they do with hundreds of hotels, so keep phones close

The hotel was extremely safe other than that and it was fine to leave belongings. Right next to the beach it was a few steps away so great for sunset pictures. Overall an amazing holiday I loved it so much, thank you

Dining/restaurant staff were AMAZING especially the waiters, and the head waiter. The boys working the bar were very friendly

But got much more than we thougt we would! The Hotel appers new, located pretty much on a nice beach, very clean rooms, a cute plungepool, and a staff that really made our stay a plesant experience

The hotel area is really welcoming, clean and modern. Rooms have enough space and you don’t have to wonder where to put all your stuff when traveling with a friend or family

Our stay was wonderfully quiet and relaxing. The private swimming pool was amazing and the whole place felt peaceful. Both the room and shared spaces were very clean

And about the staff… I could talk about the staff forever! Everyone are so nice, warm and always trying to make your day even better

This hotel mostly is for vacation at the pool. This hotel have 2 pools and close by acces to the beach. If you book this hotel be ready to pay extra for AC 12 € per night. Pay extra for beach sunbed 8€ per bed

The doors are also having this window on them so all the brightness comes inside. You will get 1 only one key card to the room. Maybe with extra cost another. Hotel is best for family with kids

Peaceful location on a beautiful sandy beach, just off the busy main road. Agia Marina is a few miles west of Hania with frequent buses

I can see why they don’t have parasols as there would not be the room round the pool, but maybe look at other hotels to see what they have done. - melon and other fresh cut fruit at breakfast

There are different tastes for every day and, best of all, wonderful local food. The rooms are bright and very clean. We warmly recommend this wonderful place to stay

Fairly large, clean pool, with deep and shallow end and a separate kids area. Pool towels are available for a refundable deposit. No shortage of sunbeds, plenty stacked up to the side

Sunrise review I stayed at Sunrise Village for a week at the beginning of July with my family, including a 15 year old and 18 year old

We enjoyed getting a drink before dinner, and sitting on the open balcony area near reception as there were some comfy seats, also there is a pool table nearby in reception

Welcome drink on arrival and a voucher for a free drink at the bar also. Pool area is relaxed and there are loungers on beach and round the pool so best of both options. Rooms are clean and comfortable

Nice hotel in Platanias, very close to the beach. The restaurant is next to the beach, you can also overlook the Playground for the kids. There is a great "greek night" with dinner and show once a week

Friendly and very helpful staff. Our sons shared a room in which the air conditioning was ineffective and it was very b hot. Altho we mentioned it to the staff, nothing was done to rectify the situation.

We spent 7 days at Santa Helena beach in 2024, 13/7–20/7. The hotel is very clean, architecture is nice and we had a 2 room ground floor apartment with a terrace to the pool area and evening sun

Good and free sun beds both at the pool at the beach (if you buy from the bar which is easy) The restaurant has a good variation of easier snacks, excellent pizza and burritos and good dinner dishes

Very high quality food in the buffet. Nice pools with plenty of free beds. Bus to chania stops right outside dor 2. Not safe to cross the road for kids! But that's not the hotels fault

Staying at the resort was excellent, and the service was on point. The food was great, but staying by the pool and getting served drinks was a whole experience

Decent sized pools, could be abit bigger though. The actual location is not the best, its just okay. Kinda on the outskirts from the city centre. The actual beach is also not really a beach

Although it is close to the main coast road it doesn't seem too noisy and the beach zone (with a kids playground, fitness equipment and a volley ball pitch, etc

Went her with my family in July 2025 and the hotel did not disappoint. They did try to put us in a family room even though we had booked to separate hotel rooms but that was sorted out after the first night

Sun beds on the green area is free and close to a nice pool and the pool bar. Sun beds are taken quite early so you will have to get up before 9 if you want sunbeds

We had all inclusive and the food was overall more than good enough for the whole family- for all meals

I read reviews and viewed photos, and I must admit that the hotel looks much better than in the photos, and we had a wonderful stay! We stayed eight nights and everything was great! The service, the delicious breakfast, the small but adequate gym, and above all, the location right on the beach, close to many attractions, yet in a very quiet area

Unfortunately at the pool there was a group of young boys taking up the place by playing on air mattresses and ball and making disturbance for the other guests, owner Dina went to the pool and told them to leave! We appreciate that she took the ownership when the mothers of the young men didn’t :) Hope to come back

Hotel location was great, if you have children, it's very close one of the best beaches for kids. Hotell stuff, they were always helpfull and smiling. We really enjoyed breakfasts.

Hotel has a pool, we didn’t go in it as weather too cold but it looked nice. An excellent Greek restaurant around the corner (recommended by the hotel) and supermarkets close by

Blue Dome is an amazing family hotel which offer good rooms, a fantastic view and the best personell. We stayed at the Superior room which was newly renovated in 2024, and it was spacious and super clean

We have just arrived home after 10 days at the Blue Dome. The hotel is literally on the beach it’s amazing. We stayed in room 512 which is a beach and pool view it was perfect for our family of four

The area of platanias has lots of restaurants and bars most of which are very good quality. Take the bus into Chania you won’t be disappointed the winding streets and stunning harbour are a must see

Yes it was small but we asked for extra hangers (we started off with 2 between us!) and moved the wardrobe over so we could open the door without hitting the bedside table and put our cases in the space

We visited in August as a family of 3 in the two bedroom apartment on the first floor. The apartment was spotless and had all the facilities that we required. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful

We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment for three nights and this place is just fabulous. The apartments are very spacious and quiet, on nice grounds with a pool in the middle

Me and my husband stayed for 10nights, I couldn't fault the place, we stayed on the first floor 1 bedroom apartment very clean and spacious, plenty of sunbeds around the pool, decent size pool, walking distance to restaurants and supermarkets, beaches just down the road

Swimming pool was also very clean. There is a limited parking space on the street and no where else to park since I’m the road ends at the property. We had to park by blocking other cars but informed the front desk

Suprisingly amazing! I went here with low expectations but I was wowed. The room: 10/10 big, spacey, bathtub, air conditioner, kitchenette, terrace, comfy beds. Interior decoration really shines Cretan culture

Sometimes we have stayed at the hotel and even if we are staying somewhere else, we always make time to go eat here. The lovely staff, good food and great ocean views make it worth for a visit

Sweet and friendly staff, backyard to the pool was lovely to chill on, rooftop was pretty and spacious, location by a lot of tavernas and pubs, only minus from the air condition that used to leak some nights, didn’t really bother us we just put something under so it wasn’t leaking on the floor

There is also a small pool for a splash bath, and a large terrace on top, to enjoy the sunset with a beer. Clean and tidy with warm welcoming stuff and owners

Pool is with icy water, not suitable for children due the temperature. Upstairs rooms have to use street pavement to get there, this is not cool

Although not a modern hotel, its freshly renovated bathrooms and windows combine with traditionall wooden furniture to create a cosy warm, village-like atmosphere

Small apartment hotel, located at the very center of Platanias. The hotel is located just a few minutes walk from the central square, the shops, the bars and the restaurants. The beach is 2 minutes away by foot

Felt like a picnic hanging around the pool! Restaurant just down the street is also worth visiting. Would love to return some day

I can warmly recommend Toxo to anyone visiting Platanias but especially to families travelling with children. It's a very well kept hotel in a calm location just a few hundred meters off the main road and the beach

Amazing hotel in a lovely area. Every single member of staff was so lovely and kind and made our stay unforgettable. My little 1 year old daughter always got a smile from everyone that worked there whenever we passed by

We felt so welcome! Breakfast was very nice and plenty to choose from, fresh vegetables and fruits to. Beds were comfy, everything was clean and sun lounge area so cosy with the plants and grass

There are also a couple of indoor areas for everyone to spend time in with a small library, some board games and a pool table. The slightly dated gym was also a great bonus

Just had 2 weeks at Hotel Kyriaki with Joseph and his team, its such a lovely hotel. The pool area and gardens are so beautiful, and there's 3 great beaches very close by too with bars and sunbeds

Absolutely lovely quaint hotel, the staff were all very nice friendly and helpful and spoke good English. The beds were surprisingly comfy and got a good quality nights sleep each night. The pool was very well maintained
