Caldera Creta Paradise in Platanias

Average , could be better , some positive points , the beach location is great , plenty of sun loungers available on the beach . The Restaurant has a good variety of food and a good standard, but it does have other issues, it’s quite chaotic, often one or more drinks machines were out of order causing a queue, often running out of clean cups or glasses , when it’s raining the outside area is obviously closed , but the inside area of the restaurant can’t cope with the amount of guests, so this results in waiting for tables to come available, it’s also quite basic looking, white plastic tables and chairs, a bit more canteen than restaurant, the restaurant staff are great and very helpful. The room we had was a swim up room , upgraded on arrival to a larger room free of charge that was nice , however it had torn and stained sheets , the sun was only on the patio for approximately 2 hours a day due to the design of the building , so not much use for sun bathing , also the staff use areas/ rooms in the same building and were very noisy early in a morning, also smoking outside which you could smell in the room . Evening entertainment was okay but quite short , however the main entertainment area is not suitable in bad weather , so it takes place in the lobby area , but this area doesn’t have enough seating for this , so not ideal . So basically a good stay , but not good enough to want to return, we would return to Crete again , Chania was lovely and is approximately 25 mins on a bus .
