The hotel is not next to the beach, but this is not an issue! You can have a transfer from there to any place that you want to visit. People who work there are amazing! Service is great! Came to the Varres as at the end of our holiday my wife was admitted to hospital on the day we should have flown home. Moved to Varres Hotel as it is close if not the closest to the hospital. All the staff were brilliant and their shuttle service spot on , can’t fault the hotel or staff, and when we are back in Zakynthos will head for the Varres rather then a beach all inclusive hotel .

Excellent place! If you are in Zante for a quiet and peaceful vacation - Varres is a great place for that. Rooms are cosy, the pool is ultra clean and the staff is just perfect. 30 minutes to the port by foot, or 7-8 mins with a car. Shuttles were available for anywhere on the island. Hotel restaurant is just what you need for a cosy evening - food was great! Can’t wait for the next visit!

A nice hotel. The rooms were neat and well cared for, though the atmosphere felt a bit lacking (with one of the lamps it had a bit of an aquarium vibe, but that was mostly just funny). The pool was nice and clean. The breakfast was absolutely stunning: lots of choice, tasty and with nice staff. Recommend if you're going for a good hotel, rather than a cute or lively one.

Nice view from the hotel - there is a pool with sea view. However, very far away from everything. If you want to go eat in town, can only call taxi (15 euro for 3-4km drive). Pick up service usually don’t come up to the hill and asked us to walk down the hill all the time. The road downhill is very slippery, my friend fell on the road!! The Cactus Hotel is a vibe. Ice cold beer on tap, a balcony made for pretending you’re in a music video, and a logo so good I’d happily wear it on a T-shirt. Superb family holiday. The location is great, just on the edge of the resort so nice and quiet for families, but literally directly on the beach. The pool is great, lots of sun loungers too, never had to worry about not getting one ! The rooms are spotless and the view from our balcony was unreal. Deluxe Ocean View room was very spacious and very large outdoor balcony. The pool and beach were great. Very sandy beach. Chairs and umbrellas are free for hotel guests. The elevator is incredibly small. The hotel's location is pretty good. The water tastes salty, like it's been purified but not completely. Breakfast was alright.

The room is right by the sea, and the sea view rooms offer ocean views. It's just a 1-minute walk from the pickup point for the Shipwreck Beach boat tour. Breakfast is plentiful and satisfying. During the off-season, there's a 5 euro environmental tax per person upon checkout.

Visited for 2 weeks in September and had the most wonderful stay. The hotel was everything we hoped for. So much so that the day after we got back home we booked again for next year. Thanks to every member of staff for giving us a holiday to remember.

Been an amazingly relaxing break. Beautiful location, great breakfast and the place is spotlessly clean and well maintained. Obliging and friendly staff and the pizza is worth trying. Plenty of places to eat out locally and the hotel bar inside and out offers a great place to chill out and enjoy a drink in the evening. Only been here a couple of days but loving the vibe. Pool area is lovely and Daria who mans the bar is so friendly and helpful. Other staff are welcoming and friendly too. Local restaurants serve good local food. Rooms are clean and well-maintained. Highly recommend.

Negatives , a failure to respond to my emails pre holiday. Positives loads of them. Ignore the doomsayers, this is a lovely hotel, arrived 3 days ago with my 14 year old son. Our stay at the hotel was excellent! The place was always clean, and the food selection was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. A special mention goes to the two animators, Sophie and Timi, who made our holiday truly unforgettable. Just left this hotel.... will say food is amazing always something different and I'm.a fussy eater .... Room very small and not clean... Had to ask for towels nearly every day ... Just returned from a week staying at this hotel. The location was perfect close to everything. The hotel was clean and rooms were a good size. Staff were all lovely, but wouldn't hurt to smile a little more often. Food was hit and miss and never hot but we didn't starve and really enjoyed the cold buffet selection. Drinks were weak but plentiful. Entertainment wasn't the best but we went end of season...
