Hotel Royal Hills in Piano di Sorrento

From the moment we arrived at Hotel Royal Hills, we knew we had chosen the right place to stay. Every member of staff made us feel genuinely welcome, and their kindness and professionalism played a huge part in making our trip to Italy so memorable for me and my daughter.

The standout member of the team was, without a doubt, Mario. His hospitality is truly exceptional and deserves special recognition. Every breakfast and dinner was made enjoyable by his warm personality, friendly conversations, and genuine care for every guest. He always took the time to make us feel welcome, remembered us each day which was such an important and special touch to our experience here. His passion for looking after all the guests really shone through. Mario is an incredible credit to Hotel Royal Hills, and his dedication is one of the main reasons our stay was so special.

A big thank you also goes to Tina, whose kindness and positive energy brightened every morning and evening. She always greeted us with a smile and made us feel comfortable from the moment we walked into the restaurant. Together, Mario and Tina created such a welcoming environment that every meal felt personal rather than just another hotel dining experience.

In particular, I would like to highlight how special and truly touched i was on my birthday. The restaurant staff greeted me with smiles and care, singing me happy birthday with a cake and candle. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect birthday, made so special by the staff here and Hotel Royal Hills - thank you truly.

The reception team were equally fantastic throughout our stay. They were always happy to help, whether it was recommending places to visit, answering questions, or organising transport. Their friendly attitude and willingness to go above and beyond made exploring the local area completely stress-free.

One of the hotel’s biggest advantages is its excellent location. The bus stop is just outside the hotel, making it incredibly easy to travel to Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Naples, and the surrounding areas. The complimentary shuttle service into Sorrento was also outstanding and a fantastic benefit that made getting around simple without worrying about driving or parking.

Finally, a thank you to the chef for serving delicious, authentic Italian food throughout our stay. Every meal was fresh, full of flavour, and something we looked forward to each day.

Hotel Royal Hills offers much more than comfortable accommodation, it offers genuine hospitality. The warmth and dedication of the staff made us feel less like hotel guests and more like part of the family as Tina says! We will always remember our stay with great fondness and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast.

I stayed here for four days and I am very satisfied with the service. From waiters to baristas, everyone was so nice and polite! I have to mention, receptionist, mr. Paolo and the barista, Mario, were wonderful. We were always informed about everything and received great service. My recommendations!!

The hotel was lovely, situated in a quiet spot, it was very clean, staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was absolutely delicious

Stayed for 7 nights at. Normally used to larger hotels with lots and lots of amenities, this was a complete change.

Location.. Piono di Sorrento, approx 8km away from the centre of Sorrento, and up in the hills. It's kind of inbetween Sorrento and Positano. These isn't much to do here at all and the hotel does not have any entertainment, so if you're looking for a lively venue then this isn't it. But if you're looking for a quiet relaxing place when you can do some unwinding, reading etc then it's perfect. The views are lovely.

Travel.. local buses run from outside the hotel, but BIG word of warning... nothing runs on time, nobody queues, and the buses are absolutely full! Good luck! Buses do go to Sorrento and in the other direction they go to Positano and Amalfi (cheapest way to get there). The hotel offers a free shuttle to Sorrento Town but you have to tell them the day before as they organise via a 3rd party company. Taxis and Ubers are either expensive or unreliable. Ubers cancel all the time.. probably because the hotel is up in the hills.

Room.. clean, conventional, and tidy. If you're visiting Sorrento then you'll probably not be spending too much time indoors.

Staff.. the best aspect completely. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional. Paulo organised so much for us in terms of excursions and advise. He was 10/10. Tina in catering was absolutely lovely, she always made our experience special and assisted in arranging different meals with their chef that were not on the menu. The food was always of high standard and we noticed local folks visited the restaurant specifically for the chef.

Overall, we really liked this hotel. Although not our usual type of venue, it ticked boxes for our family holiday and we would recommend to others if they require a smaller intimate venue and location.

Charming little mountain hotel, we stayed here with a student group April 2025 when visiting Sorrento and Capri (our bus driver drove like an ace 👍🏻). The hotel was set right on the edge of the road, food fine and staff friendly. We did arrive on a blustery stormy night and there was something banging on the roof in the wind keeping all of us awake; I hope they sorted it out by now. The views are amazing. We traveled from Milan to Athens and this little hotel in the lovliest part of Italy was our favorite part of the trip 🍋🇨🇮

We had a very good experience and the hotel was very neat and clean and well air conditioned. It was right next to a bus stop. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is pretty good if you are planning on having a car however if you are planning to use public transport (buses), please be mindful that buses from Sorrento towards Positano can be quite full and you may have to wait for few hours before you find a bus you can get on, specially in peak season.

Amazing experience here. The l Past reviews had worried me a bit but I couldn’t fault it. The staff are incredible going above and beyond always. The food we had during our half board was fantastic every night with good variation. The drinks were cheap and affordable and the mini bus transfer ran everyday! Would recommend to anyone
