Hotel City

Hotel is very close to the station, restaurants and the grocery store is right next door. This should really be a 2 start Hotel and not a 3 star hotel. Quadruple room was too small for 4 people and the bathroom was small even for 1 person. They were able to hold onto our luggage after we checked out and this was very helpful. If you want a barebones hotel close to everything then this is your hotel.

We chose this hotel as it was in the town centre and only chose this one for the Room type, stated as a “suite” & the rooftop terrace. The staff on arrival were pleasant and the room was nice and clean, large and modern with a nice walk in shower. (good hairdryer).The roof terrace was okay, just felt it could do with a little TLC to make it better. Our first night was okay but you can hear the hotels main hotel doors with a constant noise from the sliding of them opening and closing as our room was just on the first floor and directly above them. This was very minor in comparison to what we encountered next. The 2nd night of our 5 night booking ( made via tour operator) was Horrendous and from approximately 2300hrs MAJOR Roadworks commenced with road being closed off ( it was on for three nights in total) The “noise and disruption that we suffered was unbearable. Although there is “good” double glazed doors this was NOT enough to prevent the horrific noise and vibrations through the floor! I was shocked by how bad the noise was with the entire road being ‘dug up.The dust and noise was so bad we informed the hotel we would need to check out, they offered a very dark and poor alternative room. We had no sleep that night and I advised the hotel we were suffering from a double bereavement, yet they didn’t seem empathetic to this and the fact we truly had needed this break away. I think the hotel should have advised us of the major disruption if not at the time of booking but on arrival. I would not recommend in booking this hotel. They have failed to reply to us or refund us for the two nights we did not stay there, or even a goodwill gesture for the night of disruption, – but even charged us on checkout for two drinks! The only response from reception staff was that there was nothing they could do. We truly like Sorrento as we had stayed the year before and it is a lovely place, but would not book to stay here again. Breakfast was also of a very basic standard.
