Hotel la Badia in Sorrento

This is a lovely old family-owned hotel, set in olive groves on a hill above Sorrento. Wonderful views from pretty much every part of the hotel, gorgeous small swimming pool, and lovely terraced gardens with lots of places to relax in sunshine or shade! You have all the benefits of being about 20mins’ walk from the bustle and great cafes/restaurants/shops of Sorrento but in a gloriously peaceful location. Beds are comfortable and the staff and family very helpful and friendly.

I stayed here with friends during the Easter holidays. A beautiful hotel just a 15-minute walk from the center, and also 15 minutes from the small harbor. There is a walking path that leads directly into the town center—ask about it at reception. The hotel is located on top of a mountain/cliff, which can sometimes be a challenge for people with limited mobility. However, the hotel can always arrange a shuttle. The surroundings are very green, and there is no noise from cars or the city. The outdoor bar and pool are beautiful—what a view! Everything is perfectly maintained and clean. The rooms are lovely and efficiently laid out. The beds are made daily and refreshed when needed. It’s a family-run hotel, which means the service is both efficient and warm. The bathroom lighting suddenly stopped working one morning, and after reporting it to reception, it was repaired the very same day. Breakfast was quite extensive by Italian standards and certainly sufficient. The coffee was delicious. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city. The price-quality ratio is absolutely good.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel in Sorrento. It’s set above the town, so you’re away from the busy streets and can take in the beautiful views and fantastic gardens. The building itself is lovely, with elegant surroundings and well-kept, comfortable interiors. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and a special mention goes to Carmine, the bartender, who was exceptionally attentive and really looked after us throughout our stay. The last thing I would suggest is perhaps enhancing the breakfast selection, but overall it was a wonderful experience.

We really enjoyed this hotel! Loved the patio restaurant overlooking the sea! The sunsets were magical every evening. Solid breakfast - loved that they had a refrigerator to keep items cold and a warmer to keep the coissants warm and fresh! We were able to use the path beside the hotel to walk down to town. As everyone has said, it's a good path into town, but it can be tiring to walk back up after a long day of sightseeing. Large property with charming areas to sit for a drink and a view. Lots of parking on the property which is complimentary- a plus. Staff was helpful. I would stay again for sure!

Could have asked for a better experience. Perfect location, great food and the staff were so helpful. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants a Centrale place that they can relax and get a great meal. My favorite was laying in the hammocks under the olive trees. The family is really nice and you can tell they take care of their employees.

What a fantastic experience, I cannot praise the staff highly enough, attentive and helpful. The hotel has such a family feeling it's a home away from home. It's located around 10 to 15 mins from Sorrento central, there is a little incline on the way back, but an excellent way to walk of a fantastic dinner. The food is great the pool clean and the views are stunning!

Beautiful restored abbey, family owned and managed. We were greeted by Sara and given a full tour of the property and information on the area. The owner was in the lobby each morning and the granddaughter who shares her name (Marisa) behind the desk. So friendly and welcoming! Comfortable, clean room, lovely breakfast buffet each morning and a relaxing pool area. The hotel is on a hill and we got great workout utilizing a nearby path to get into Sorrento and back. Had some lovely dinners on the terrace with beautiful views and sunsets!

A little gem of a hotel! Whilst the hotel is up the hill at the end of the resort, it's nice and quiet, great views, nice simple breakfast, cheerful staff, little rooms with great air-con, a nice little pool. Thanks team, we enjoyed the stay!

This hotel is a dream. I really recommend staying here wheb visiting Sorrento. Ask for a room with balcony and a view to the Vesuvius, they are amazing. The price is just like any mid range hotel in the centre and its so much nicer. Swiming pool is lovely and the breakfast is very complete. The restaurant staff and reception staff are very nice and the owner is a lovely woman who even though there was only one room available when booking she managed to get another one also with a view. I recommend booking directly with the hotel. Dont be put off by the walk to the centre, its 15-20min down a lovely countryside path (then a short walk down a road). Very easy going back but going up might be challenging for some in the heat. Taxis from the center to the hotel are between 25-30€. In any case so worth it!

I stayed here in April while travelling through Italy on my motorcycle and it was the perfect place to use as a base for visiting the Amalfi coast.
The walk into the main street of Sorrento was 10minutes, I ummed and ahhed at this but honestly, don't let it put you off booking here!
If you're arriving here on a bike or in a car the free parking is a godsend.
The room was big, had a lovely view and the bed was comfy. It was also nice and quiet!
Breakfast was spot on and you could sit inside or outside.
The pool is nice, perfect for cooling down and relaxing by for an hour or two before heading out on a night. Pool towels are €2 or €3 for your stay.
The girls at the desk are fantastic, very very helpful and more than willing to chat and help out with the million questions I asked about the towns, restaurants and boat ride to Capri. Thank you's very much!

I'm sure I'll visit the region again and will definitely look to stay back here.
