The hotel itself is located more in the suburbs of Rome. The hotel offers shuttle service if you sign up for it ahead of time through the gift shop. Trying to walk somewhere can be challenging with no sidewalks and hoping you don't get hit by a passing car.
My room now definitely needs new carpeting and updated furniture. The bed is comfortable. Looks like small bathrooms have been updated but my main complaint is hoping you have quiet people in rooms around you. Lots of tour group or cruise ship crowds. The swimming pool attracts families. I travel often and if I wasn't on business I would choose to stay elsewhere due to my repetitive experience at this hotel. I keep hoping for a better experience. If so I will update my review.
...But had no chain on the door. Also had no balcony but only one small window that overlooked a field. The bathroom was also small with few hooks.
The staff were fairly pleasant...except for one afternoon when a random attendant requested to inspect the minibar. What? Why?! Nobody has ever asked that before!
Then there's the location. It seems to be in a decent area, yet it's literally in the middle of residential area except for one lone restaurant. To get to a commercialized area, you will need to either take a car or the public bus. Do NOT consider walking down that winding road since the sidewalks seem to be lacking while vehicles zip by.
A special commendation goes to Simone, the bartender. Professional, attentive, always measured in his gestures and words, yet at the same time able to establish that rare confidential relationship that makes all the difference. He knows the tastes of regular customers, gives elegant recommendations, and prepares flawless cocktails — but above all, he knows how to listen with discretion and intelligence. His way of working is a perfect example of what it means to offer hospitality at a superior level.
The second room was a bit cleaner but still dusty nonetheless.
Called front desk and Asked for clean towels the next morning, because they had replaced incorrect number of towels but housekeeping never arrived. Made front desk aware of the situation, they were unhelpful, asking me if I had just called half hour back. I had not, I had called a couple hours before.
This was our 3rd IHG hotel on this trip and the last one, unfortunately the only one where I had to post a less than glowing review.

I travel very frequently for business and have a fair idea of what is acceptable in terms of cleanliness in hospitality and service. I took pictures of the first room and the second room on arrival and will be happy to share it with you, if needed.
