Reviews
Book here if you’re ok carrying a flash light and take the stairs for the 6th floor!
If you’re after a wallet-friendly stay in central Rome and don’t mind a few quirks, Elide Garden Hotel delivers the basics without the frills. Think: clean room, comfy bed, but little luxury. It’s the kind of place you book when you’d rather spend your euros on pasta than pillows. 🥒🇮🇹

P – Price
✅ Great value for money in Rome — rooms under €100, especially during peak season, are a rare find!
🥒 Full Pickle
---
I – Infrastructure & Integrity
✅ Shower doesn’t flood and everything basically works
✅ Room clean and free from major mould issues
❌ Hot water inconsistent and weak pressure
❌ Very noisy – thin walls, windows don’t close properly
❌ Awkward stains and scuffed walls
✅ Good security and blackout shutters
👌 Half Pickle
---
C – Comfort & Practicality
✅ Comfy mattress and decent pillows
✅ Air conditioning and room temperature fine
✅ Enough power outlets and working Wi-Fi
✅ Spare blanket and place to hang clothes
❌ No bath, single-ply toilet paper 😬, no room service
❌ Small room, no tissues, weak desk setup
👌 Half Pickle
---
K – Kindness
✅ Friendly, helpful staff who explain everything clearly
❌ No real “extra mile” moments or special touches
👌 Half Pickle
---
L – Luxury & Little Touches
✅ Decent towels and a (weak) hairdryer
❌ No robes, slippers, minibar, or quality toiletries
❌ Towel heater broken, no streaming TV
❌ Basically zero “wow” factor
❌ Definitely not a luxury vibe
❌ No concierge, no extras
❌ Tea yes, but no coffee!
❌ No Pickle
---
E – Experience
✅ Safe neighbourhood with police nearby
✅ Close to transport and easy for taxis
✅ Reasonable walking distance to the Colosseum
❌ No amenities (no gym, spa, restaurant, or rooftop)
❌ Feels more like a converted apartment than a hotel
👌 Half Pickle
---
🥒 FINAL SCORE: 3.5 out of 6 Pickles! 🥒🥒🥒👌
A solid budget option for travellers who want to save cash and don’t mind skipping the luxury. Elide Garden gets the basics right (clean, safe, decent bed), but it’s definitely more “economy pickle” than “purple pickle” material.

About the PICKLE Scale:
Each category (Price, Infrastructure, Comfort, Kindness, Luxury, Experience) earns either a full 🥒, half 👌, or no ❌ pickle. 6/6 earns a rare 💜 Purple Pickle award!
Everything was quite basic, but we felt comfy 😊
The room was cleaned daily and we got new towels each day.
Friendly staff at the reception 😊
We would book again 👍🏽
Be aware that payment when leaving is only possible in cash.
the breakfast has only sweet selection. needs more salty things. there was only slices of cheese.
I got a room with a broken AC unit. I told the reception and they told me not to worry and by the time I get back, my room would be cold. We got back at 11 pm that night with 30 degrees in Rome. The room was still hot. The staff offered to get me a fan but when going back to the room, the plug outlets didn't work either. I ended up leaving the hotel close to midnight to another hotel by the Spanish Steps for a much more expensive price.
Please avoid a headache and don't book here. They need a major renovation.
1 star is too high of a rating for this place.
The hotel is very well located in the city's center, a small but organized hotel; the room and bathroom are clean, the mattress is comfortable, and the staff is friendly.
The breakfast is disappointing, they don't have good coffee, but this hotel is worth what you pay for.
On our last day in Rome, they also let us leave our bags without charge while we explored some more! Definitely, the kindest staff i met, 10/10 customer service.
Poor air condition.
When we checked out we were asked to pay cash.
Big discussion as we refused.
Bad experience wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
Also the main dishes we had weren’t to our taste.
The main pros are the great location, assuming you will use public transportation, and the breakfast is pretty good.
The rooms look extremely nice at a first sight but as soon as you get settled in you realize things don't work well. The shower was broken and the AC was malfunctioning in my room. The wifi was terrible and would just not work at all even tho I was here on the low season. Things I would expect of a budget hotel but definitely not a 5* infrastructure.
I complained about the wifi because I needed to take an important call but the reception person only got rid of me saying they would check with the maintenance person the next morning and it didn't get better at all.
