Hotel Domus Mea in Rome

Location wise it’s a good hotel. Breakfast hasn’t tried.

the room is clean but the size is small, however, the location is really good.

I did not read the reviews before we book, and it work for us, the room is not too big but we just paid 65 euro, for a double room. Tremendous bargain I might say, the restroom is not perfectly clean but not bad. Room is clean, they have cabinets and complimentary coffee and tea. Reception is also ok, location is perfect with a lot of restaurants nearby, convenient stores and train station/bus station is just a few steps away.

My stay was amazing. The host were very kind and helpful. My room was in very clean and cozy it had everything we needed. It was exactly as advertised. I highly recommend it.

Hotel Domus Mea in Roma had its ups and downs. We were grateful to find a room somewhere. After our B&B host turned out to be a liar and a flake, loosing €700 of that reservation kicked off our 10 day stay in Roma. We found another hotel, but they could only get us for two nights after the B&B fiasco. The rest was spent at Domus Mea. All they had was the economy room. It was small, but it did what it needed to do. Some problems with the water running out or a shortage, not sure, but there a couple times we had to wait a while to shower. There was a balcony, size-able shower, comfortable bed and we got to know the housekeeper pretty good and she was on the job keeping things tidy for us and in supply of instant coffee. There is a little cafe and barista area with espresso machines etc in the lobby, but I guess it never opened again after they lifted from Covid restrictions.

Walls in our room were pretty thin. We could hear neighbors slamming their closet doors and room doors. Once everyone was done banging around and what not, it was pretty quiet at night.
There were some free movie streaming services on the tv and a small fridge in the room.

Some reviews mention boys at the front desk, we never encountered them. We had Aida every time we went there. She too was friendly and helpful. We needed an iron one day apparently another guest had it and didn’t return it so we had to find a place to press some shirts. Fortunately there are several laundry services nearby. One is much better than the other. I’ll find the name and post it below. We couldn’t get the room safe to open using the room key, but it wasn’t bolted down either, so, a determined thief would’ve carried it away and opened it elsewhere.

The area is safe enough, it isn’t amazing, but if you’re walking around anywhere in the EU at night wearing a Rolex and toting luxury bags etc, you’re asking to be robbed as it is. I wouldn’t recommend that here either. Many really good, less touristy ristorante’s, bars, pizza and more, all within walking distance. We ate at nearly every place you could within walking distance from the room. They were all pretty good.

There are also many sites that can be seen, all in walking distance. We had no issues walking all the way to Villa Borghese and back. Taxi’s are pretty available too. You can use the app to call them in, but you begin paying when they accept the ride to come get you. Flag them down, it works pretty often.

Lastly, the elevator is a two person elevator. 250kg max. So if you have several large check in size bags and a couple people, you’re going to have to make a few trips up and down. Hotel is on the 5th and 6th floor of an apartment building.

They have larger rooms, so, I’d suggest checking rates and availability on those first.

Hotel Domus Mea wasn’t a bad stay, it was mostly decent. If you’re always looking for 5 star accommodations in three star locations, you’ll never be satisfied.
