San Lorenzo One in Rome

The worst hostel I have ever stayed in. Let's start by saying that when I arrived at the address of the place, the door was closed and there was no one inside so I had to wait outside for about two hours until a member of staff was kind enough to come to the place and open the door, however, even after that they made sure to kick me out until it was time to check in. In addition, when I wanted to talk to the boss about the unkind behavior and conduct of his employees, I was met with refusal and irritation on their part. Not only that, the toilets and facilities are old and of a poor standard, the room is not clean and there is noise from outside during the night so it is not provided properly. The hostel is very far from the city center and has good bus and metro lines, so I do not recommend it at all and think carefully before you book it.

Our stay was horrible! We arrived at the location after a 20 min walk and it was closed, so we called the Number at the door. A guy replied quite rude on WhatsApp and sent us a different location. So we had to walk another 15 min to the befriended hostel. After waiting for around half an hour we could check in and they told us that all the rooms are full and overbooked so they moved us to a third location. After walking again around the area we ended up in an Appartment and they brought us to our final room.
We ended up sleeping in a 10 people dorm with no shutters. It was very smelly and dirty all over.
By looking on the mattress of the bunk bed above we saw that it was fully covered in mold.
No wondering it was hard to breathe inside after a while.

A completely stressed out receptionist who's doing everything and the other staff sitting around drinking was the least of our problems with this hostel. The "cheap" price is definitely not worth the misery.
Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place to anybody, for us it was a nightmare.

Do yourself a favor and do not book here! I intended to stay there in June and was informed 2 days before my stay, through Booking, to go to another hostel instead (Roma Experience Hostel) because of "covid". That other hostel was an absolute disillusion: cramped, noisy, no locks on any door, no locker... and I decided to not spend a night there and leave. When asked to be reimbursed as I had to book another place last minute, Booking replied that they had contacted the San Lorenzo Hostel who told them that my "card is invalid, that's why they transferred you to Roma experience and you stayed there for 2 nights." This is of course absolutely wrong...

Hostel said it had availability showed up at 2am in a super sketchy neighborhood and was told that its fully booked. The owner said he cant do anything about it and closed. Ended up wasting €35 back and forth for nothing
