Hotel Sogno del Benaco in Limone sul Garda

We booked this hotel for June 2025. We chose it as it gives a Lake view and is close to the centre of Limone and the beach. Both these points met our expectations along with parking on site. Check is was good with excellent advice from the guy on the desk, on where to eat and the facilities. One thing to note. There is no swimming pool. Not on site. You are allowed to use the sister hotels pools and spa but we were disappointed that the pool was not actually on site. But you are so close to the beach, it wasn't a deal breaker. Breakfast was good. Plenty of choice and you can eat on the terrace out front if you want. What was a deal breaker was the lack of working AC. We were there and it was a heatwave. Late 30 deg temps and high humidity. But our rooms AC was barely blowing anything and what it did blow was little more than luke warm even when set on 17 degress. When first reported, the maintenance man came and cleaned the filter. No difference. So we reported it to (the excellent) Monika on the front desk. She came up and admitted something was wrong and it would be looked at. Next day it was the same and my wife reported it to the guy on the desk (not the one who checked us in I hasten to add) who was extremely rude and arrogant. He came up and tried to tell us it was working and that it was the heatwave was the issue. We pointed out that the foyer was freezing cold and the doors were open all the time so it had nothing to do with the weather. He then showed us another room (despite telling us there were no spare rooms) stating the AC was good. It was exactly the same and in the same area of the building as our existing room. So obviously the fault lies with the system in that part of the building. Cut a long story short, nothing could be done to rectify the system so Monika moved us to another hotel which at least had working AC (and a pool on site). I will say the room was ok apart from the above issue, if a bit dated. The location, views and parking are all worth considering and if they can sort that AC out then it's a good place to stay. Monika was excellent and could not do enough for us. Thank you to her for her excellent customer service.

Hotel and staff amazing HOWEVER We ate at the chicken and steak house and were very disappointed The service was shockingly poor , our fries and pinion rings arrived 20 minutes before our chicken We were a group of 8 and only 1 person had a nice meal Steak was overcooked , chicken was dry and tasteless The manager , would not talk to us and walked around without doing anything to help the situation Just before we finished our meal he walked over and gave us a bag of bread , that we should have had at the start , a terrible experience made worse by his lack of communication and attitude, it ruined our stay Poor poor poor and disgraceful attitude from manager
