Borgo Solamore in Cortona

We returned for our second stay in August 2022 and were not disappointed. Stunning location. Lovely apartments. Great location. Pino and Caroline are very welcoming and really make you feel welcome. Can't wait to return. Thank you, Elaine

The Borgo was in a very beautiful a quiet spot. Amazing views of the Tuscan countryside. My family and I stayed in a spacious 3 bed 3 bath villa. Every room was cleaned very meticulously every day while we were gone by the wonderful maids. Breakfast was prepared each day for us by Gianmarco with pastries, fresh fruit, coffee, and their amazing scrambled eggs! We were taught in person how to make some delicious pasta, ragu, and tirimasu. Other nights we left the cooking to Vivi and Alesandra. The dishes they made are beyond words. Honestly they made my favorite food during that entire trip. Each day they would walk us through what we would like to do for the day, with recommended towns, shops, and restaurants that avoided the touristy and in-authentic areas of Tuscany. Thank you so much Alesandra, Gianmarco, and Vivi for the absolutely wonderful experience.

Historic Borgo with several guest houses. Just outside Cortona, this is the real deal. Host gives great advice for things to do, and is an excellent cook. Spent a week touring all around Tuscany. Small towns are WAY better than the days we spent in Milan, Florence and Rome. If you are not in shape, you will struggle a bit with steep streets, but still averaged six walking miles a day for 10 days. Make sure to tell host if you want lower sodium meals as I found things to be a bit salty for a 65 year old. Not her fault, I just didn’t speak up as I was with a group who liked meals just fine.

Beautiful place to soak up the amazing Tuscan countryside. Amazing hosts Alessandro and Marco AND delicious food. We loved breakfast and particularly enjoyed a traditional Tuscan dinner that we had the night before we left with other family members attending. We had a one bedroom ensuite and it was just perfect. Peaceful, clean and comfortable in a picturesque spot. We will be back!

Alessandra and her son, Giammarco, have created a beautiful villa up in the hills outside of Cortona, that is filled with love and truly caring for all their guests. You combine serenity and peacefulness, with excellent food and excellent personal service and you get a place 10/10 where people will be eager to return. Alessandra gave us excellent tips on the local end, as well as in the towns surrounding on the mornings we set off to explore. It is obvious that Borgo Solamore is her passion and we hope to return one day for a much longer stay!!

I’m not sure where to start. Our trip was pretty rough until Alessandra and Giammarco saved us. Literally, found us stranded 20 minutes away, picked us up and said “ you’re safe and with us now”. Th Villa is beautiful and serene. Our stay was everything you could ever dream of. Then you add the kindness of this woman and her son- it’s unbelievable. Every single meal was perfection. Our other guests were the friendliest people and made breakfast and dinners even more enjoyable. I loved our pasta making dinner! Stay here if you want to experience some of the best hospitality and food in Italy! In addition, Alessandra has the best suggestions for day trips! I cannot recommend this enough!

We had the best time staying at Borgo Solamore! Alessandra and her son Giammarco were beyond amazing hosts. I hurt my knee before going there and I had a hard time walking so she cooked for us our first night there. Then she cooked for my 50th birthday! The breakfasts were the we had in Italy and the dinners were our favorites as well! Our time there will always be very special memories! When we left, we felt like we left family. We will be back and cannot wait to return! Alessandra and her are very special people, ones you never forget!

This place is amazing and unique!! Simple but very confortable, it has been a reel pleasure to spend a whole week there! The owner, Alessandra, is unique and so friendly and helpful, you wonder how come she has time to spend so much time with every guest! My wife and myself enjoyed it very much and will be definitely back

Sometimes life smiles on you and you find a little gem. This place is one of those. Alessandra and her son were amazing hosts, the food simple (in a good way!) and delicious. Beautiful surroundings. There may have been a torrential downpour as we arrived but the sun was shining inside!
