Hotel D'Azeglio in Florence

Bidet flooded bathroom. Same cake was served more than 3 days. TV did not work. Comforter had yellow stains. Hair in bathroom and bed. Soap dispenser in shower was broken.

The worst smell in the room, corridor and stairwell, which wouldn't go away. Even after opening the full-sized window in the room, it would come back after closing it. Couldnt leave the window open because its a large window without any screen and it's the middle of winter. After reading other reviews about the property, realised its the stench of sewerage drains. Why, if the sewerage drains cannot even be cleaned properly, is this place even allowed to continue to operate? The stench is so overpowering it could even be a biohazard. People with sensitive respiratory systems should avoid at risk of suffocation.

All the other observations in other reviews about dilapidated and worn out furniture and fixtures are also true. Sad part is its advertised on the listings as a former palace, or a historical building, which might lead some to justify the room rates but its not worth it. Even for a historical building. Not if you're getting an asthma attack because the unbearable stench won't go away and the tired conditions of the rooms makes you dread climbing four flights of stairs, instead of two falsely advertised, to get to your room after an exhausting day of touring the beautiful city.

Quite a disappointing hotel even for 2 stars.

Stayed there for 3 nights. First, about some of advantages. Wi-Fi was flawless, didn’t expect such. The location is successful, all main sights are in 10-15 mins walking distance. AC was in our room so it saved us from Italian July heat. Well, I think, that’s all.

A major thing that irritated me within the whole living period is conditions in the room. It looked dilapidated and old, with ugly corners and a few decrepit pieces of furniture. But it’s possible to survive, the problem was something else. First, the toilet door couldn’t be locked AT ALL, despite thousand attempts. When our patience ended, we asked a receptionist to mend the door. He promised to come, but afterwards it didn’t happen and we’ve been living with a non-locking door. Besides, once in the toilet a bidet started spilling. Second, though there were four of us, as I’ve mentioned before, there were just a few pieces of furniture (not including beds): a wardrobe, two cupboards and one chair. Almost no place to put clothes and other items for four people. Finally, we didn’t find a safe for valuable things, but, I figure, it’s not of a big demand among hotel residents.

In the end, speaking of hotel breakfasts. The range of food was narrow, including 2 kinds of ham, cheese and some bakery. The coffee machine often did not work, so we had to boil water for tea in a microwave. And the microwave itself could be tuned only up to 30 seconds for some reason.

Probably, it was our fault to come to a 2-star hotel, having excessive expectations. Nevertheless, it leaves much to be desired and should be necessarily revamped, especially rooms.

Staff was to noise, we could sleep well, you can heard staff talking loud from our room.

The front desk staff were great, but the room wasn’t clean, the bathroom looks totally different than the photos and unfortunately we found a bed bug in our bed. We couldn’t even sleep, it was our last night at the hotel. Although we only found one bug, we felt uncomfortable and we are afraid we’ll have to deal with laundry and drying all of our clothes and bags mid trip. Wish I could get a partial refund, as we couldn’t sleep during our last night there.
