Poderi Arcangelo in San Gimignano

It was the BEST experience in Tuscany!!! I recommend book a pasta class , it is unforgettable.

Place was beautiful, but was a little upset with customer service. I booked and paid for 7 nights but only stayed 4 due to the fact that we booked one night in Venice, one in Florence and one in Chinque Terrre. What rosette is the fact that the room was ready when we arrived a few hours before our check-in but they wanted to charge us another 10 euro a person to check in early when I paid for 4 people for one quadruple room ..which was the most expensive one .. I think that bad customer service. The room is for four people but I booked for 3 and last minute I added a fourth my husband and they charged another 45 euro a day which it doesn’t make sense since we shared the same bed and we didn’t stay there the whole 8 days I paid for anyway .. I I wanted to take a bottle of water from all inclusive breakfast to my room and they told me to go pay for it at the reception desk. This was ridiculous since breakfast it’s all inclusive. I feel they nickel and dime you for everything., even though the place and food was wonderful and I would love to go back, I think I’ll find somewhere just as beautiful.. plenty of places.

The staff was very knowledgeable and fantastic. The location is beautiful and we will definitely be booking again.

We had a very pleasant stay!

The accommodation is beautiful and lies in beautiful surroundings.

The personnel was very friendly and helpful. The organised dinners at the hotel were very very good. Sometimes better than nearby restaurants. It was delicious!!
Of course, the wines are great too, with the rosé wines as my favourite.

My only points of feedback would be that it would be nice that the bar next to the pool is open more hours (as of our stay, it was only open for 1hour between 7 and 8 PM). Some time you just want a nice drink or snack earlier times.

Another point I noticed was that the floor in the bedroom was quite dusty upon arrival.

I have to say, these 2 points of feedback would not take away my full recommendation for this place. We loved every second of our stay.

Beautiful - But need a car
Our stay at Poderi Arcangelo in the rolling hills of San Gimignano was nothing short of magical. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, the views were the kind that stop you in your tracks – especially at sunset when the Tuscan hills glow gold. The food was exceptional every day, with authentic local flavours that made each meal a highlight. The staff were warm, welcoming and always tried their best to help, adding to the charm of the place. The location is perfect for exploring nearby treasures such as San Gimignano itself, Certaldo, and Volterra.

One thing to note – a hire car is essential. Public transport is virtually non-existent here; we couldn’t get a bus at all and taxis, while available, were scarce and very expensive – we spent €400 on just three journeys. This isn’t the hotel’s fault, though it would have been helpful to know in advance.

Also, while the property is beautiful, there’s no real indoor bar area for relaxing before or after dinner. There is an outdoor bar, but it only opens on weekends and closes at 18:00, so an early evening drink isn’t always possible.

Despite this, we had seven days of bliss and would return in a heartbeat – next time with a hire car, ready to explore every corner of this stunning part of Tuscany.

The room was for 4. It had a rustic farm house vibe.

Unfortunately there was mold in the bathroom and a nest of spiders in the beams above the bed (which my husband was happy to sleep under - so we ignored).
There is no noise insulation between floors and you can hear other guests above you, but everyone was respectful and noise minimal.
The spare blankets in the cupboard needed a wash and were unusable. Otherwise room was clean and comfortable.

The infinity pool was great and generally quiet creating a relaxing atmosphere.

You need a car if you stay in one of the annexes otherwise you would have to walk up a hill.

We had access to a balcony and a common area. The kitchen was accessible but you are not allowed to use unless you book an apartment.)

Breakfast was very good and the terrace is amazing.

We only had interaction with two staff members. One was lovely, friendly and helpful. The other was the complete opposite, which ruined some of the shine.

Overall lovely place to stay, fantastic grounds and we will definitely try and visit again!

This property is absolutely beautiful! It was such a relaxing stay for us. The staff is so kind and hospitable. I definitely recommend Poderi Arcangelo!

Very good, amazing views. Quite simple rooms but the pools and view are worth it.

Dinner and breakfast was ok, not great.
