Hotel Santa Caterina in Siena

Caught in an unexpected snow storm, we had to make a pit stop in Siena on the Befana holiday.
Luckily we chose Hotel Santa Caterina and they had an open room.
The staff could not have been kinder or more accommodating.
This is an authentic classic Italian hotel. Rooms are large, high ceilings, comfortable bed.
Bathroom was great. Good shower pressure. Some other reviews mentioned dated decor. So what?
Place is comfortable.
Quick, easy walk to town and restaurants.
We didn't take advantage of the complimentary breakfast. Parking was 10 EUR, secure gated behind the hotel. The view from the courtyard was incredible.

Wonderful 3-night stay in this lovely hotel! Our first time here was also our honeymoon in Siena. Super friendly staff and a breakfast that was fresh and full of variety. Clean rooms with great water pressure. The city itself feels like you are living in the renaissance age. The path to the plaza has beautiful views.

Good location, good service, beautiful garden, fantastic views and stylish reception area and yet the room we had was pretty inconvenient to stay in. WiFi patchy, couldn’t get proper signal in room 14. Parking scary, bring a small car or ask the receptionist to park for you.

What a beautiful hotel! The view over the countryside is jaw dropping.
The room was ok, older which matched the vibe of the building but it was not very comfortable. The bedding was dated and the pillows were not comfortable.
The breakfast was good with fresh fruit cheese and bread.
The service was great, they have on site parking and everyone was very nice.
Overall the view sells this place and just that is worth the stay

I stayed at the Hotel Santa Catarina in Siena on August 12 during an almost 5000 km endurance bicycle race from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea. As such, I had some special needs and was very tired. The hotel staff were absolutely fantastic. We also stayed here in 2017 and the hotel was great then.

The staff were excellent, the hotel was very comfortable, and the location is perfect with access to the old city. I have nothing but good things to say about this place!

It was better than I expected. Although the room was small, it was well-equipped, especially the picturesque scenery outside the window. You can feel the natural scenery of Tuscany without leaving the house. The breakfast was also very rich, especially the warm and polite staff. As soon as I arrived at the breakfast area, they asked me what drinks I needed, which made me feel at home. Later, I wanted to make tea, and they quickly gave me a set of tea sets with warm water. It was very heartwarming ❤️ I will recommend this hotel to my family next time I come to Siena!

The best night of the trip to Italy, the country villa has an unbeatable view of Tuscany. The breakfast is also super rich, you can sit outside and eat, overlooking the green fields, super romantic.

The hotel is just outside the ancient city, the location is also very convenient, there are many buses around.

Congratulations to the Hotel Santa Caterina team, everything is nice, the room was excelent, the bathroom very clean and comfortable, the breakfast was 5 stars and the view of the Toscana valley is superb. We loved the staying in Siena. Thanks.

Went to Siena, looked at many hotels, was influenced by the reviews, and finally booked a two-day stay. It turned out not to be a particularly good decision.
The location is outside a gate in the old city. It takes 20 minutes to walk to Shell Square, and the cars are parked on the side of the road, making it difficult for pedestrians to walk.
The triple room we booked has windows facing the road outside. The advantage of this hotel is that the inner windows face the outdoor fields, so we can only run out to the garden to look out at breakfast time, which is not as good as the view from the window of our own room.
Moreover, the triple room is very narrow, and the three beds are all on the second floor. It is not comfortable for a family of three to live in a small loft, and there are stairs just two steps after entering the door on the first floor.
The air conditioning was not working well. I didn't sleep well on the first night. After breakfast the next day, they left to check and repair it.
The advantage is that the breakfast room is quite elegant and the outdoor garden has a pleasant view. The house is an old building, and the front desk is polite and greets with a smile.
If you want to spend a long time looking at the cathedral, have a late dinner and want to go back to the hotel to rest, it is recommended to find a hotel nearby in the old town. Btw, Siena is a great place to visit.

Very, very good! I looked at the pictures on Ctrip before and felt it was very ordinary. I was very surprised after checking in. Because I stayed for three consecutive nights, the triple room I booked was upgraded to a suite with two bedrooms, two living rooms and two bathrooms, which was huge. The view outside the room window is very beautiful. See Figures 1 to 4 outside the living room window, Figure 5 is the view of the public area, and Figure 6 is the living room. This suite cannot be booked online, but can be booked by email or phone. It is really worth it and highly recommended!
The hotel is located just outside the gate of Siena. If you drive by yourself, the ZTL in the city cannot be driven in, so it is very convenient to stay in this hotel. It takes 2 minutes to walk to the city gate and more than ten minutes to walk to Piazza del Campo. The hotel has parking spaces, which need to be paid separately.
