its nice place reasonable plice
This youth hostel is run by *********. The atmosphere is very good, but the service staff told me the wrong direction to Hakuba Jr Bus Station, which made me wait for 35 more minutes in the heavy snow.
If you are looking for an easy access to the mountains at a good price it is the place to go. The room was very clean and the mattress very comfortable. We had a room w/out bathrooms so we used the common bathroom and it was very clean and organized, they provided you with towels, shampoo, conditioners and soap like any hotel bathroom would. They also have a laundry room where soap and dry sheets are...
Decent accommodation. It was clean and had comfortable beds. The staff were friendly, but unfortunately couldn't provide information on matters like ski buses. No food is available. While there is a kitchen, it's extremely poorly equipped, lacking both cutlery and pots for cooking.
Convenient location! Was easy enough to get around!
Meteor Garden is located conveniently 5-7min drive from main Hakuba Village. One thing to note is that the main cafe in the stay is not open so need to find other dining alternatives. Rooms and amenities are clean and well maintained, the one issue is that it’s not well marked on Google map as it keeps pointing to the restaurant which was not opened and gave us a false alarm. Wifi is not the fastest...

Room does not come with any amenities, asked the front desk host if they have any shampoo or shower gel, unfortunately they are only available in the public bathroom. The older reception man seems a bit unfriendly but the young man at the breakfast room was great.
The room was tiny, and the staff weren't very friendly, but we didn't need to interact much since we were there for skiing.
Convenient, clean, nice atmosphere, restaurants near the accommodation, good location.
It's OK. The location is a bit remote in summer.
Ideal location. The rooms in the main building have bathrooms. The rooms are large. The view outside the window is beautiful. There is wifi. Parking is convenient. However, the drying room does not have much drying effect. The room has heating. The hotel is actually very good in all aspects. High cost performance. You can choose to add some small purse breakfast. Because I went skiing early in the...

Really recommend this place if your going to ski on the cheaper side! Wonderfully nice staff who went the extra mile for me by making dinner later than the cut off! It's bit old, but you didn't travel to hakuba for the hotel did you?! Perfect place for a dudes snowboarding trip!
Old hotel, seemed like no one lived there, but over the course of my stay it got busy. Neat and clean rooms, basic amenities included in room with daily housekeeping. Close to hakuba station and the shops in the vicinity. Has a shuttle bus to the ski lifts nearby but if u miss the shuttle it's a painful walk if snowing
Amazing place, perfect indoor and outdoor Onsens, great bar plus friendly and accommodating staff all around. Shuttles to and from all ski resorts. Slightly dated hotel and rooms, but very clean and spotless. Highly recommended !
Good food and decent rooms, although the main building is connected to the restaurant by a freezing basement tunnel

Very helpful, great for pick up/drop off at Hakuba station and transfers to rental shop. Rooms are traditional Japanese rooms and require some getting used to.
The owner of that place is super HOSPITABLE 👍. He met us at the bus stop and also drove us to another hotel when we were moving. From 8 to 10 am he provides a free shuttle to the ski lift 🎿. There are also free buses from Happo One(the closest one and most popular ski resort) that go almost directly to the hotel, which makes it very convenient to return back for free as well. Another big plus for...
Stayed at this Japanese style inn during our Hakuba ski trips. Mr Kashiwa made this a most memorable stay. The inn itself is older and traditional and Mr Kashiwa personally helped us get to the right places. The Japanese breakfast is unique. Location is great to access the ski areas or buses to them.
Visited here back in Nov 2025 when its not ski season yet. The price was very affordable even with dinner included and the overall experience was fantastic. The cozy and chill vibe with beautiful views really caught my heart. I was greeted warmly by the owner where they not only advised me of places to visit during this off season, but also offered me a ride to one of the spots after checkout. Apparently...
Friendly and helpful owner. Close to bus stop for mountain/ski shuttle bus. Very warm. It was helpful to have an onsen on site too. We had a great time here!

The easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given! From the moment we arrived, everything was amazing. The accommodation beautifully embraces traditional Japanese culture, which made the experience feel so special and authentic. It’s perfectly located in the heart of Happo Village making it a short walk to the mountain, restaurants, and bars, and super close to the Happo Bus Terminal. The rooms were spotless and...
Amazing hotel for an Australian couple to stay at with unreal service and hospitality from the couple that owns and runs the place. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home and help us whenever we needed. Right next to the happo bus terminal and another shuttle bus picks you up and drops you off at the front door to get to happo gondola. Just an all around great place to stay.
If you enjoy traditional Japanese style hotel, you will appreciate this one. The host is welcoming and thoughtful. The room is spacious with tatami fully covered and a window side set to enjoy the night view. The location is unbeatable. Snow park shuttle stops are literally right at your doorstep to take you to various slopes, plus Hakuba bus station is just a minute walk away. Easy access to various...
We stayed for a few days in a larger group across a few rooms, and had a great experience. The staff were extremely accomodating and flexible. This hotel is very close to the Happo bus terminal, with a strategic location along the main road and near various restaurants. At first, I thought it would have a dated interior since it’s an older hotel, but it turned out to be quite modern, well-maintained, spacious, and very clean! I loved the ryokan-style ambiance. We stayed at El Mayo during our time in Hakuba and that place is awesome, simple and you have everything you need and its super quiet for a good rest. Location is perfect for shuttle bus to and from ski resorts and also short walk to restaurants and supermarkets. Owners are very nice people, they drove us to ski resorts every morning. Highly recommend this place for a nice cosy stay in Hakuba.
Great stay. Hosts are very accommodating. Rooms are cosy, warm, big enough for all snowboarding and travel gear. Close proximity to restaurants in Echoland and easy walk to Happo One bus station and Echoland Spicy shuttle stop. No kettles or other amenities in room and attached bathroom is very small but doable. Would stay again.
Great location between ski fields and shops. Absolutely amazing service, the owners were very kind. We definitely recommend getting the breakfast package as it makes mornings easy and is wide ranging.
I echo everything said about hosts. . They run a tight little ship, and guests don't really want for anything (except a kettle). But they gave us a thermos of hot water anytime we asked. I want to point out that the onsen is maybe overlooked by many guests. The water is crystal clear and piping hot. You shouldn't omit it as the ultimate rejuvenator after a day on the slopes. What is lacking everywhere...
We stayed at Hotel Mayo and the standout part of the experience was without question the owners. They are truly beautiful people who make you feel exceptionally welcome from the moment you arrive. Wonderful stay , clean and great food for breakfast and dinner. Friendly elderly couple that run the place and kudos to the awesome hospitality. It would be nice if the hotel signboard is clearer at the point of entry from the main road,, missed the entrance a few times.

The interior of the B&B smells of cypress, and the B&B is well maintained. The Japanese-style breakfast is delicious with Western food. You can still hear the collision sound next door, but some hotels can also hear the sound from next door, which is acceptable to us.
It is very convenient to go skiing, and the surrounding area is convenient for eating.
The environment is great. The balcony overlooks the mountains. The food is good and fresh. The hot spring is nice and empty. The service is good. The curtains are too transparent and it is very bright in the early morning.

We had an amazing experience staying in the Oomuko Ryokan (January 2026). It is a very traditional room, which we highly enjoyed to have a true Japanese experience. The owner is very attentive and sweet and helped us with arranging a reservation for a diner place with only 8 seats. The breakfast is delicious (Japanse authentic one as well as western) and the onsen are very clean and the best way to...
The rules are very simple. First, if you arrive early, luggage storage is only available after 9:00 AM. Second, check-in is strictly after 3:00 PM. Lastly, after check-out, you can no longer use the facilities. Apart from these three rules, this place is a gem. It’s conveniently located: 4 minutes’ walk to the bus station, 5 minutes to Lawson, 2–3 minutes to all the equipment rental shops, and about...
Stayed here in winter 2024 during the ski high season, luckily got the last room at a great price! The ryokan is within walking distance from the train station and not far from the ski area, with a beautiful view of the Japan Alps. Hotel Soyokaze was such a cosy and welcoming place to stay. Takao’s personalised hosting made us feel completely safe and looked after from the moment we arrived. The room was spacious and incredibly comfortable, and being able to book the private onsen each evening was such a special touch. Great location, beautiful atmosphere, and truly memorable hospitality. We would absolutely stay again!
Very friendly and helpful staff/family. Great location. We stayed in the stand-alone cabin - it was very comfortable: laundry and kitchen facilities, spacious by Japanese standards with a separate lounge area, loft area (with very low ceiling) if you want to have separate bedrooms. Well stocked with towels and cleaning products! And there's a small, intimate, nice and hot onsen (can only be booked...
The best hospitality. Would definitely reccomend for anyone wanting a comfortable stay! The people there helped in every way they could.
Indoor fire place was great. Host was extremely helpful at all times. Rooms were a good size and the onsen was great.
My second time in hakuba, and this is a real gem. Had a lovely two bedder with in room toilet at a great price. Muto San is an amazing host, on hand to give the best tips on which slopes to hit every morning, and somehow is always there to greet you when you return! The real gem is the in house onsen!! perfect to roll out of your soggy ski gear into a yukata and head downstairs.
Takao-San goes the extra mile for his guests making Hotel Soyokaze the goto place in Hakuba. It really felt as if he was a long lost Japanese uncle rather than a host. He even came and picked us up when we got stranded after we missed the last bus at the slopes. Can't recommend hotel Soyokaze enough.
