Pros: It's close to the ski lift, which provides access to all the slopes.
There's a rental shop nearby for skis, snowboards, and sleds for kids.
The staff sometimes drove us to the store or main street.
It's beautiful on the outside, and on sunny days, there's a stunning mountain view from the window.
Cons: The breakfast was meager and repetitive. Dinner was expensive – ¥4000 per adult, so we didn...
I was very impressed!!!
The hotel is great, the staff are great and very kind.
The location is also good, although it's a bit far from the station, but there's a shuttle service from the hotel.
You can ask the staff to pick you up or drop you off.
The hotel is beautiful and right next to the Hakuba Goryo Iimori ski resort, just 10 steps away! 😂😂😂
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
The hotel is quite old and there is not much kind of food for breakfast. However, all of staff is helpful and the location is so close to ski resort.
The room was comfortable, but the central air conditioning was a bit cold at night, and it was difficult to find staff at night. It's close to the ski resort, which is good.
Great location. Very reasonable price. Thank you. I'll come back in the winter to ski. Thank you.
The bed was very comfortable for me and my room was really cute i feel like Christmas 🎄

Hakuba isn't very big; the town area is just a few streets. The hotel is on a small hill, and there are several other hotels nearby, which provide the lighting for the entire hill. There are no convenience stores nearby. The hotel offers Japanese-style rooms, which I chose. The downside is that you have to make your own bed, which might be too much for older people. There were many elderly people and...
Stayed late June to see the stunning Itawake view. No skiing, just soaking in Hakuba’s nature. Hotel was peaceful, surrounded by trees — perfect for relaxing walks. Staff were friendly and super helpful. Room was clean, a bit small for what we booked. Breakfast was okay, mix of Japanese and Western. The onsen was the real highlight — so refreshing after a day out. Even without snow, Mominoki was a...
We had a wonderful time. Our plans were canceled due to the rain, but the hotel was great.
I'd love to stay here again.
Thank you for your help.
The room is old, but the ski location is good
I am very satisfied with this hotel, the location is great, the staff is friendly and the room is comfortable.
The room was very comfortable in terms of lighting, temperature and bedding. I would especially like to praise the housekeeping sister for keeping the room very clean. The room has two terraces, one of which overlooks the Happo-One Ski Resort.
We stayed for six nights and the breakfast food...
The experience was very good, especially the service of the male waiter at the front desk (didn't remember his name), which was very heartwarming. After checking out, we needed to take a taxi to another B&B, but because it happened to be the weekend and the birthday of the king, and it was snowing all the time, the entire Hakuba car resources were in short supply. It was this waiter who insisted on...

Absolutely awesome hotel, great breakfast, beautiful Onsen, 5 min walk to a Happo lift and great rooms. An easy 5/5!
Bonus points for 200 yen massage chairs!!
Stayed here for 8 nights, the hotel staff are super friendly! The onsen is excellent and breakfast has a good variety, close to Iimori and hakuba 47 bus stop and short walk to the local Happo lift. Perfect spot.
The only recommendation i would ha e for the hotel is to have a Room tvs that have access to streaming services such as netflix or phone projection connectivity.
Would 100% stay here again...
Amazing place to stay in Hakuba Happo area to snowboard. Our room was spacious and clean with a great view. Bathroom was a bit small but nothing out of the ordinary. The public onsen was wonderful, with a beautiful Roten (outdoor) bath - would definitely recommend staying here just for one night to experience the bath.
Plenty of option at breakfast (Western & Japanese). Food was made fresh.

I stayed there 15 years ago. Very nice and spacious indoor and outdoor onsen. Walking distance to ski resort and cable car. Beautiful mountain view in winter.
I remember three strong impressions.
(1) We missed the train at Shimano and took a taxi to get there, reaching at midnight. The ons was already closing but the staff allowed my family to bath there.
(2) My sisters woke up late but they went...
Great breakfast and super comfy rooms. Staff and onsen were amazing
The rooms are lovely, we had views and lots of space for a family. The staff was fantastic and the food at the hotel was outstanding. Happy hour for 500Y was a very nice touch.
Any issue and you are well looked after; here you will find the flexibility that a westerner appreciates but sometimes finds lacking in Japan.
Will definitely be back again!

We actually really enjoyed this stay - it was one of the only resorts left in echoland with availability, but it exceeded our expectations. Rooms were huge, the shuttle bus stop was exactly in front of the door and the staff at the lobby were so so friendly :) yes the hotel it’s a bit old fashioned in style, but nevertheless we had a great ski trip here
We had a very pleasant stay at hotel oak forest. The rooms are quite big and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small but the shower is nice. The breakfast was good. The staff is very helpful even though they don't speak english very well. However with hands and some google translate we figured it out. The shuttle service to happo one ski area is good and always on time and they also have...
Had a really good stay at Oak Forest. Stay accommodated for English speaking guests and assist with luggage hold on day of check in and out. Breakfast provided was really good. Onsen was a welcome part of the stay after a day of ski.
Location is a bit inconvenient as it requires a decent walk or taxi to main bus terminal and other resorts. But there is accessible restaurants in walking decent to...
Affordable and great value for money. It has all the basic services, and the room is spacious. There's a shuttle bus that runs periodically, but it's more convenient if you drive yourself.
Although it's a bit far out, it's easy to find if you're driving, and they offer a shuttle service. Don't expect too much from the breakfast and dinner, as they're pretty standard. However, there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. The on-site public bath is fantastic for soaking in after a day of skiing!
Convenient. Have pick up for arrival and bus to various ski resort just at door of hotel. Gd onsen to use.

We enjoyed our stay in Villa G but were disappointed in the lack of clarity of the location of the villa. We read all the print of the booking but apparently missed text on a photo stating that the villas were located far away from the hotel. Due to this location, we had a 30 minute walk to one shuttle bus and over a 45 minute walk to restaurants in Echoland, and the hotel provided no shuttle anywhere...
Stayed at Reposer Hakuba in Nagano and had a great experience. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very attentive throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious and a perfect start to the day. Would happily stay here again.
Reposer cabin cottage is a winter/summer house. There is a small natural stream right at the back, which is great. The cabin is a bit worn but it still has all it takes to provide a great accommodation. Location wise, you need a car in hakuba to move around anyway so the distance to anything is not to concern. Its a 5 min drive to everything. The service is hugely great. The staff is very helpful....

There is a pick-up service to the ski resort, which needs to be booked in advance. It is very convenient. It can also pick up and drop off at the bus station and other places. The service is very good. Breakfast and bar drinks also need to be confirmed in advance.
The appearance of the hotel is very beautiful, which is one of the places that attracted me to book. The interior is very rural, simple and tidy. I highly recommend this hotel for skiing and mountaineering.

Hakuba Ryujin Onsen was our favorite hotel during our two-week trip to Japan. It has a wonderful traditional Japanese feel paired beautifully with modern styling. I stayed at the Berg-land Hotel in January 2024, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The hotel exudes quaint and cozy charm, and everything was spotlessly clean. We particularly enjoyed the bar and the...
The location of the hotel is perfect. Close to the bus terminal made it so easy. We didn’t have a car during our stay and it was easy to walk for food and drinks. I loved having a beer at the bar and a chat...
We just finished our 3 week stay at Berg Land and wow, what an incredible 3 weeks it was.

Review of Berg-Land Hotel, Hakuba, Japan
During my recent stay at Berg-Land Hotel in Hakuba, Japan, I was thoroughly impressed by the level of hospitality and service provided by the staff. What a great place to stay! Tony and the team were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and tidy and had all we needed. The hotel Onsen was perfect too. Good place to stay for snowboarding in hakuba
Room is quite old but clean. There were dinner and breakfast dinner included which were authentic japanese food. We love spending time here. The view was so stunning.
Dinner was very good, very delicious, but you have to rush with the time. Breakfast may be less than dinner but there is a lot. It is a hotel that maintains Japanese culture. The ingredients are local. It is not luxurious but warm.
There is a shuttle service. I really like the hot springs here. You can soak in the hot springs while enjoying the beautiful scenery. There is also a shuttle bus to the ski resort. The only downside is that there are almost no restaurants and convenience stores around. But there is a microwave.
Public bath broke down - hot water not hire enough .
This is winter . In the room , the hot water from the tap water is not hot enough . It takes a long time for the water to become hot .
Room is very cold
The view is very beautiful. You can see the snowy mountains in Panorama from the hotel. The onsen is very good. It helps to relax after skiing. The room is clean but the design is quite old. And there are few amenities. Overall, it is a suitable place to stay for those who want to experience the nature of Hakuba. There is a lot of parking.

The hotel has its own lift to get you on the hill that also has the Plaza ski lift on it.
Food; breakfast is a smorgasbord, with no heating trays, so everything is cold! (I hate cold eggs and sausage!)
Beds are good.
Rooms are enough.
I’m prime on an electric wheelchair- there is an elevator! But there are stairs before you can get to it! I was ok as my chair folds and can be walked like a suitcase...
The reception man - who studied in Texas - is an absolute treasure for the hotel. He will tell you everything and help you figure out what you need to have a good time here!
Amazing location! Very close to the ski hill and a ski school. This spot also has its own ski rental shop. Great variety in the buffet breakfast too!
This is a rather difficult review as the staff really (and I mean really) try to do all they can.
We had a positive experience here, though looking at the reviews for this hotel, and the directly connected (same business) Sun valley hotel you will find rather mixed reviews.
Ultimately it comes down to price and what you are after, this is a primary Ski based hotel, 10 metres away from the nearest...
The location is probably perfect in winter, but in the summer it is not close to anything. The good part is that the owner offers a pick-up service sometimes. Otherwise, the rooms are big and spacious, which aren't common in Japan, and the bed is comfortable. In the summer, the entire region is deserted, so come prepared with food or transport in advance. I understand most other reviews, as the owner...
Love the rooms. They are so clean and the bed is comfortable! There is an onsen nearby (about 8 minutes walk) and the hotel staff was so kind to direct us there and give us the coupons for it. She was also so helpful to guide us about the timing of the bus to get to the ski resorts. The escala ski resort is just ~8 minutes walk away. Absolutely enjoyed my stay here! Very convenient!

Very nice modern and minimalist hotel in the centre of Happo, a short walk from the bus terminal and the gondola. Good strong hot showers and excellent drying lockers for your snow gear. Wifi on the 3rd floor dropped out constantly and was almost unusable, and breakfast was poor with stone cold eggs and other cooked breakfast items which was very unappetising. This should be improved for the very high...
We really loved our stay at the Happo. We stayed for 13 nights and enjoyed the convenience of the location and the shuttle bus to various ski fields. We would have liked the sheets changed more frequently than every 4 days given the number of nights we stayed and the cost as well as a deeper clean of the room (we are by no means dirty). The breakfast was great, however, cold most days. The staff were...
My husband and I just left the property yesterday after staying for 5 nights. Staff and service were very good - this includes the drivers that help send us to the ski slopes etc. Rooms were average size but my issue was there was no phone that you can call down to reception. My stay at the hotel was very pleasant. It was quiet and relaxing. It was the non-peak period and there were not many travelers, I felt like an exclusive guest. I learned that the town really comes alive in mid Dec when the winter ski season begin, and it seems to be a very vibrant place during that time.
The room was great though the basin being placed right beside the bed was a bit inconvenient...
Lovely people. Good location. Basic but comfortable rooms.

Large room, nice place, clean and quite. But my room is far from the lobby. If you have a heavy baggages, not easy (there’re few stairs before elevator)
The food is delicious. The large bathhouse is not a hot spring, but it is OK and clean. The staff are quite professional and the service is good. Among the several chains, the Baima one has the best value for money.
Good, the buffet was delicious. Clean and hygienic. Transportation is a bit inconvenient, mainly because it's a bit far from the Happo Bus Station and JR Station, but it's very close to Gongdola, which is good.
Nice & clean…staff are very friendly

All the reception staff were lovely and helped us with everything we needed. The gentlemen running the shuttle bus 25/01/2026 morning was really nice and took us to another bus terminal to avoid taxi fees
This place was great! It had incredible accommodations: shuttles, taxis, rentals. The front desk service was super friendly and super close to some amazing food. I had a great time and would recommend to anyone!
Excellent value for money. Friendly staff. Spacious family rooms with all amenities. Large restaurant with delicious food, buffet style for both breakfast and dinner (highly recommended). Traditional style public bath, which is a nice touch considering you have a (small) bath in the room. There is a shuttle bus to the slopes, or it’s 10min by car.

• Towels and indoor wear were provided for free use, which was very helpful.
• You can enjoy the view outside the window from the hot spring, allowing you to relax....
A typical Japanese-style family hotel, small but exquisite, not many guests, but also very clean, private bathing, Western breakfast tasted OK. It is about a ten-minute walk from the bus terminal.
The breakfast was delicious - bread, fruit, yogurt, and galettes.
It's true that the reviews are old, but I think it's sufficient for the price.
It's close to Hakuba Happo-one and just a five-minute drive from Hakuba Iwatake, making it a great location for ski season.
Because we stayed during the off-season, there weren't many other guests and it was quiet.
The water pressure in the shower in the large communal bath was a bit of a concern, but other than that, I was satisfied. ◎
The buckwheat galette at breakfast was especially delicious
This is a great location for accessing the mountains and enjoying the snow. There are both public and private onsens on site, the manager is lovely and helpful and the drying room for your winter equipment is also great. I have nothing but great memories :-)

Hakuba, Kamishiro 22200-8 🧭 Map
We had an amazing stay at Hotel Mont Blanc. The staff were so accommodating and helpful, assisting us with everything we needed to know about our stay in Hakuba from lift passes, to travel and other activities. A friend in our group also got very sick whilst we were here, and I cannot understate how caring and helpful every one of the staff were. We loved staying here.
A huge thank you to the staff for making our stay so memorable. We are so grateful for everyone’s help!
The delicious breakfast was a daily highlight, and the location is perfect—nice and quiet but with a couple of food places within a 5-minute walking distance. Theres also daily scheduled free shuttle bus to Escal Plaza in the morning and 7-11 at night. We couldn't have asked for a better experience...
Stayed for 4 nights in a traditional style room. The pads were by far the thickest and comfiest I’ve had during my whole trip in Japan. The breakfast every morning was excellent and filling. The onsen facilities are simple but hit the spot after snowboarding. It is located just down the hill from the Goryu Escal Plaza base area, a 10 minute walk. They have a free shuttle during ski season that will...
We had the most beautiful stay here in Hotel Montblanc. Spacious, clean rooms with comfortable bedding. Heating works great as well. The food is warm and very filling. The customer service is very welcoming and kind. There was also a bus stop for Escal Plaza in front of the hotel so everything was convenient. Highly recommend!
We loved our stay at Hotel Montblanc. Staff are amazing, super helpful and always wanting to go the extra mile. Annis set us up with discount lift passes and equipment from Hillside rentals. Nothing was too much trouble. The nightly 7-11 runs were great too. Location is a 10 minute walk to Escal plaza and there's a bus stop out the front for the daily ski run shuttles. Breakfast always fueled us up...
The boss is nice and can store ski equipment

Hakuba, 399-9301 Nagano, Happo, Japan 🧭 Map
Probably one of the best lodging experiences I've ever had. The women running the place are an absolute joy and went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay. The daily Japanese-style breakfast is fantastic and the on-site Onsen is a highlight. I'd go out of my way to stay here again.
Great place to stay for ski holidays in Hakuba!!
Amazing services: walking distance from all shop, ski rental, Lawson, restaurant, bus terminal, and ski lift.
You will be welcomed by two fabulous ladies.
Rooms are authentic, clean and comfortable. Good Japanese breakfast. You will love the Onsen.
Highly recommended.
We loved staying at Happo Kan! The ladies running the hotel were so kind and thoughtful. They left water and clean towels for us at our hotel door every morning which was nice to come back to. The hotel is conveniently located near happo bus terminal and happo one ski lifts. The rooms were clean and quiet and decorated in a traditional Japanese style. The highlight for us though was the breakfast!...
Wish I could give this hotel 10 stars. The hospitality was matched by a 5 star hotel. We came to learn that the two women working are sisters and they’re the fifth generation in their family running the business.
The rooms are a “authentic” experience with beds on the floor which adds to the experience. Beds were very comfortable, views out the window(that open if you want fresh air), rooms were very...
A Delightful and Comfortable Stay – Highly Recommended!
From the moment we arrived, the exceptional service made this stay truly special. This charming boutique hotel is run by two wonderful ladies who go above and beyond to ensure guests feel welcome and well cared for. Their kindness, humility, and cheerful nature created such a warm atmosphere. They provided invaluable local tips, helped with shuttle...
Exceptional, extremely helpful staff made this stay a great pleasure. The ski room and onsen are very welcome if you're here to ski. And the breakfast was tasty and very filling.
