Don't use Booking.com either - they did nothing to support us. Use Expedia instead. Attached is the photo of them confirming our check-in time, the message we got late the next day, and how it looked when we showed up to check-in. Stay anywhere else and enjoy your travels.
The TV has now been removed.
The bedroom smells of mold. Stink bugs appeared multiple times.
The bathroom was also freezing in late autumn, so I ended up using the hot springs nearby.
There were complaints about the water pressure in the washing machine, so I couldn't use it properly.
It's only worth about half the price. There was also almost no SoftBank signal.
The service is so different from that of the luxury hotel on the same premises that I think I should just give up on the cottages.
After visiting the Shirakawa go, we planned to go to a nearby river but it suddenly rained so hard so we decided to check in.
It was 38 degrees when we had lunch at Shirakawa go, in this resort, it was 16 degrees after it rained. No need for an AC in the summer.
And this alone was worth the trip up the mountains.
The staff were nice and courteous.
The place was clean, very spacious for Japanese standards, the whole compound seemed like an escape from the busy city. Worth the drive to experience some quiet with nature during this time of pandemic. Wish we could have stayed another night but we had work work work..
We barbecued and kids played at the pool the next day.
My only issue was that they only offered disposable plates and chopsticks. I was expecting to be able to use dishes. Had i known, i would have brought with me some for the kids.
Nearest convenience store is about 20 mins away by car so be sure to have what you need with you.
The furniture was like a hotel and had a luxurious feel.
It's a pity that the only TV is not connected to YouTube at all.
I stayed at GW, but it's cold enough to heat up at night.
But at night, the stars looked very beautiful.
There is also a forest walk course, so if you are lucky you can meet animals.
I met a raccoon dog while taking a walk.
Amenity included toothbrush, comb, shaving, and bath towel.
There are no small towels.
There are disposable chopsticks, tongs, cutting boards, kitchen knives, etc., but there are no seasoning pots or frying pans.
There was a toaster range pot.
It was a washing machine with a dryer, and the powder was left there, but since there is no fabric softener, we recommend that you bring it with you.
Shampoo treatment body soap is available.
I think it's okay because the shampoo doesn't squeak.
There is a roadside station nearby, so if you don't buy drinks there, there's nothing nearby.
The cottage is a little far from the parking lot, so if you can choose a place near you, I would like to choose it.
Basically, I want to stop before the cottage.
You can also have a barbecue on the stove.
You can bring in fireworks as you can do it at the designated place.
The reception is at the spa resort below.
I take a bath at the spa, but it costs 3000 yen per person.
The bath at the roadside station is 700 yen for adults.
When I received it, he gave me a 100 yen discount ticket.
The room was large with two beds and a Japanese-style room, so it was quiet and relaxing.
The air was very clean.
I want to go again.
