Eternal Flame in Hakuba

We stayed for 5 nights in one of the two cabins and the place was perfect for a family of four. The stay started with excellent, informative messages and answers we received before arriving. We were picked up and dropped off at the station. The cabin itself was amazing, easily big enough for the four of us - two beds upstairs on a mezzanine and two bed downstairs, a living room with flat screen interactive TV, fridge and kettle, plus a good bathroom and shower+bath. As many others have pointed out, the breakfasts were a highlight of the day. The hotel staff were amazingly helpful - they helped organise the ski rental (ski company came to pick us up and take us to the shop for skis, boots, helmets and clothing) and they arranged for rental company to pick up gear from hotel at end of stay. Also, they were able to supply discounted ski passes at the front desk and the shuttle bus for the Iimori slopes left from outside the hotel - this was great as our kids did group ski classes there everyday. Truly a wonderful place to stay if skiing in Hakuba.

Hosts were amazing breakfast was 10/10 everything about this place was an experience thank you guys untill next year.

We had an exceptional stay at External Flame Ski Lodge and truly could not have asked for better hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely taken care of. Nao-san was outstanding and went above and beyond for us — even kindly picking us up on arrival, which made everything seamless and stress-free. Breakfast each morning was excellent, with a wonderful variety of high-quality, delicious food. It quickly became something we genuinely looked forward to every day and set the perfect tone for skiing. The rooms were very cozy, spotless, and beautifully maintained — exactly what you want after a long day on the slopes. Everything felt warm, comfortable, and thoughtfully done, creating a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. We highly recommend this lodge to anyone coming to ski. We would absolutely stay here again without hesitation.

We loved our 5-night stay at Eternal Flame. The hosts Nao and Kimmi are so helpful and kind, which we especially appreciated as first-time visitors to Japan. Their assistance with transportation, ski rentals, lift tickets, laundry, etc was a huge help! Our lodging in one of their private little cabins was warm, immaculate, and quiet. We enjoyed the on-site onsen, massage chairs, and comfortable common area with complimentary espresso, tea, and chocolates. Highly recommended! The warm hospitality of Nao and Kimmi makes Eternal Flame feel like a home away from home, and the exquisite breakfasts have to be seen (and eaten) to be believed. Due to our arrival schedule, Nao kindly upgraded us to their new cabins just outside the main house, and they are nothing short of sensational. Based on the concept of Japanese minimalist design with every comfort imaginable, the 4 bed cabins are like walking into your own luxury suite. Combined with easy access by bus to the ski resorts, private on-site Onsens, a short walk to the restaurants of Echoland (where Nao made us bookings every night), you simply cannot do better than a stay at Eternal Flame 🔥

The service from the host Now and Kimmy were first class. The daily three course breakfast was excellent. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. They arranged ski gear rentals, booked restaurants for us when asked and also sorted lift passes. The lounge area was very relaxing with complimentary coffee and chocolates all day. Would recommend staying here. Nothing was too much trouble.

The hospitality by Nao and his team was absolutely fantastic. It has a “home away from home” charm and we loved staying here! The food was outstanding every morning, the whole property was extremely clean and the location is so convenient. For a ski trip, it was perfect!!! 10/10 experience and would recommend to everyone :)

Really enjoyed our stay. Nao, Kimi and their staff are great hosts and nothing's too much trouble for them. They really take pride in making sure guests have a good experience. They picked us up and dropped us off at the bus/train station. The location is good too. A short walk away from the shuttle buses to most Hajuba snow fields and Echoland centre is about 10 mins away which has some good bars and restaurants. Breakfast is good too. Recommend!

The couple who own and run this place provide very warm and personal service. They provide detailed ski report for the area and recommend the best places. Every morning they make excellent breakfast, they also consider your dietary restriction.

Definitely would visit again.
