APA Hotel & Resort Sapporo in Sapporo

Completely impractical as it's far from the city center!!! If you're not on an organized tour with a travel company, don't stay here! The city buses are a nightmare, always packed, and the metro is a 40-minute walk away! If you have luggage, you'll need to take taxis. This place is definitely not suited for solo travel or trips with friends; book a hotel in the city center instead. It's our fault; usually, Aparthotels are always well-located. We didn't check, and this will be a lesson learned.

I heard that the APA Group took over the hotel that previously stood there. While it maintains the minimum quality expected of a large hotel, it lacks the detailed hospitality and feels rather crude, typical of major chains. The yukata provided in the room was only one size, and for a tall person like me, it was too short. The single space was small, not at all comfortable, and felt cramped.
Also, the Honshu-affiliated izakaya, while advertising seafood, lacked the sizzle of the local area and the menu showed no creativity. The sake vessels used for sake were bland, like those used for shochu, and I felt sad that they couldn't at least serve the sake in cut glass. The head chef is probably not an expert on the discerning tastes of drinkers. Although each type of bathroom has its own name, there is no jet bath and the water is too lukewarm, showing a complete lack of understanding of the psychology of hot spring lovers.Even though the head of the hotel is well-known, no matter how much he promotes his expansion strategy, without attentive service (which in some ways pales in comparison to hot spring inns throughout Hokkaido), he may be able to attract businessmen on business trips and students on school trips, but he will not be able to capture the hearts of repeat hotel guests.

The bath was excellent.
