Great location 50m from Yasaka Pagoda and plenty of well known touristy streets. Lots of snack and meal options nearby. Rooms were large and well air conditioned (a must in Summer!) Laundry and bathroom facilities were good and we had everything we needed for a short stay. Check in process and communication was difficult but mostly due to the agency not passing on important info like where the key was to get in, or where to leave it when checking out, which caused some stress

In the heart of the old town. Very traditional. Used the big tub several times. Wonderful!

The property was clean and located in an excellent area. It had access to many local temples and shrines, as well as, dining options.

Perfect location in Gion.
Perfect location. Very clean. Just a little difficult to find ;)
Very friendly and professional check in staff.
…one minor improvement; maybe have some tea and coffee available in the Machiya for the amount of nights stayed.

Right in the heart of Gion, we couldn’t ask for a better location. 5 -10 mins from Kiyomizu Dera. Lovely traditional home very comfy and an overall great experience

We had a great experience staying here as a family of 5. The location was perfect and in the most charming neighborhood in Kyoto. We especially loved staying in a traditional home nestled at the end of a charming alley. Akemi was incredibly responsive and kind host.

We loved the Kiyomizu Machiya Inn. A Memorable stop on our family adventure. It is on a quiet side street in the middle of the famous Kiyomizu Dara area. There was plenty of Shopping / Dining a few yards from our door. As a photographer it allowed me to walk out our door late at night and photograph this amazing neighborhood after the many tourists had left.

It is not recommended for guests with a lot of luggage or big suitcases: firstly, because the B&B is located in the Ernenhan Sannenhan Scenic Area, which is crowded with tourists during the day, and taxis cannot get in at all. You need to drag your suitcases uphill and downhill. It was quite laborious to find the place to stay on the stone streets and steps; secondly, after checking out, I found it difficult to get a car, so I had to drag my suitcases by myself through the crowded stone streets to the main road far away. Take a taxi...Of course, guests with no luggage or small luggage may wish to experience the feeling of an old house machiya for one night
