I'm not particularly critical of the room; it's a traditional structure (chosen specifically to give you the experience of what a Japanese room of the past might have been like), so it's fine. However, check-in and check-out feel like you're traveling on semi-automatic (check-in) and automatic (check-out) pilot. The reception presence is almost nonexistent and barely noticeable. Narrow stairs from the ground floor to the first floor. There's a strong, persistent smell at the entrance (perhaps due to some ventilation issues). It's a shame because this kind of welcome, which I didn't appreciate, isn't what you're looking for. Strengths: quiet neighborhood, close (1.5 km) to the city's historic market, and close (between 1 and 2 km) to many attractions. Low cost.

The location is very good. It's a 3-minute walk from Shichijo Station. Sanjusangen-do Temple and Tokyo National Museum are nearby within a 7-8-minute walk. To get to Kyoto Station, just take the 206 bus at the door. The boss and his wife are first concerned about collecting the Kyoto accommodation tax, but the rest is just fine. A great value for money option when staying in Kyoto.

The room is clean and tidy. The lady boss at the front desk is very gentle. Seeing that I came early, she let me check in early. As a Japanese tatami experience, this hotel is a good choice. The transportation is also very convenient. The subway station is only a 3-minute walk away. The bus station is also convenient. However, there is nothing delicious nearby. There is a McDonald's on the other side of the bridge.
