Reviews
Bed was stiff, and there are other pillows available, but the standard pillows were pretty hard.
Very clean, and relaxing. They have a number of small details that really add up to a nicer experience.
I travelled solo and the room with double bed was more than perfect. It is small but spacious enough for my needs. The bed itself is quite comfortable. There is an AC and I had it on set to cool most of the time because it was a bit too warm outside and I always found myself sweating as I returned, and so it was nice to get a cool breeze in a few minutes of being inside the room.
To have a cheaper state I went without the daily cleaning as it is an additional fee. I appreciate that Dormy Inn makes this optional as that reduces the bottom line cost for accomodation. Another thing is it is a bit DIY (do it yourself) in that you need to request towels when you need to be replenished with a clean one. The good news is that there's a towel service button where you insert the card in the entrance of the room which is handy. Similarly if you want rubbish taken out you need to leave it outside during the day and the cleaners will empty it.
There are some really nice amenities. In the evening they serve soy sauce ramen. I didn't try this as my appetite as of late has been diminished. On the top floor is the onsen and also a manga library you can borrow from. The manga is in Japanese though.
I found myself going to the onsen about 3 times a day, and it really helped heal my sore legs which were fatigued from walking around everywhere.
Oh and there's a laundry room (men and women separated) to wash and dry your clothes. Get this -- the washing machine is free and will dispense detergent as well. The dryer is 100 yen for 20 minutes and I found it dries really well. The washing machine supports a 5kg load and the dryer a 6kg load. There is plenty of machines available as well.
As expected in Japan the service is phenomenal. Dormy Inn is no exception and embodies the spirit of omotenashi. I am so grateful to the staff and their assistance.
Honestly this hotel is fantastic value, especially if you use the onsen.
The only downside is that the hotel is a little further out from Ikebukero station. However the good news is that Ikebukero is a fantastic location and there's great places to shop, great places to eat, great entertainment, and my favourite brewery Two Fingers is nearby which is run by a fellow Melbournian.
The hotel itself is adjacent to a local 7/11 and Family Mart konbini which is quite convenient.
Next time I come to Japan, I'm definitely going to be staying at a Dormy Inn, and probably the Ikebukero one since it is in such a great location.
The hotel itself doesn't have much of a view unless you are on a higher floor (higher than 8).
The onsen is lovely with an indoor mineral pool, outdoor onsen, cold plunge pool, sauna and shower area. We enjoyed our time and the facilities.
You can get free popsicles after your onsen visit and free yogurt drinks in the morning. Free ramen is available from 9:30pm to 12:00am.
The breakfast buffet has tons of options and was delicious. Although it doesn't have much Western food except for eggs and sausage. The majority of the food is Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Everyone enjoyed the buffet.
Was in Tokyo on business for 4 nights and stayed here.
The service was good, nothing special but all you needed.
But the beds and the rooms were really comfortable. I slept so good each night.
The onsen on the 15th floor was such a delight, you can use it for free and it’s fantastic.
Also the location is excellent, everything is right around the corner. Ikebukuro was much nicer than Shibuya or Shinjuku.
Will absolutely stay here again!
