This haven of tranquility is only 25 minutes from Shibuya but provides an authentic onsen ryokan experience. Rooms come with a Japanese Breakfast which for a westerner was an experience in itself. I guess like an English breakfast it is not something you would eat every day but it was certainly more healthy. Recommend the green tea as an accompanying drink rather than the coffee we had on our first morning. The fermented soya beans must be an acquired taste but everything else was great to try. Do some homework about onsen behaviour before you go and practice putting on the yukata or a similar style garment if you can. High quality yukata garments are provided in the room. I reckon about 60% of guests wore these garments throughout the stay - my attempt to wear it correctly ended up in failure because I had not practised beforehand. Instructions on how to wear and on onsen etiquette are available at the venue via an online link. There is also an app showing congestion status in the onsen. We had a room above basic level and as you can see from the attached picture it was perfect. Space is limited however so it is worth paying some attention to packing beforehand if you can so that you only have the items you need for the stay to hand. We had not done this, did not wish to clutter the bedroom area with our luggage, so we were stepping over our baggage in the smallish utility space. I think larger bags can be stored on premises and there is a popular forwarding luggage system in Japan. Not sure the wooden floor was totally compatible with the washing and toilet area and this area felt a little stuffy at times. Some fan noise was noticeable in the main room but these are minor quibbles. The floor itself is a beautiful naguri one and comfortable tatami mats surround the bed. Staff are polite, courteous and helpful. They help us book the popular Sherubee izakaya down the road. This is in the lively Shimokitazawa area which is well known for its thrift stores. I could take or leave that area but the streets around the onsen are very peaceful and pleasant to walk though with a number of refreshment venues to choose from.

A hot spring inn near Setagaya-Daita Station. Day trips are also available. (Advance reservations required.) You can experience a hot spring you wouldn't expect in Tokyo in a luxurious setting. All-you-can-eat ice cream is available in the waiting area before the hot spring. Baths are either indoor or semi-outdoor, but the semi-outdoor ones are small, so taking a bath when there are other guests may be difficult. It's sober, but all the dryers on the vanity were a bit underwhelming. For a day trip, a plan with sweets and tea at the on-site teahouse is recommended.

A 7-8-minute walk from Shimokitazawa and a 1-minute walk from Setagaya-Daita Station. This hot spring inn offers a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Low-rated reviews have commented on it as "narrow," but it's certainly smaller than a country inn, but no quality hot spring inn offers such a short walk as the surrounding area. Recommended for those who want to enjoy the hot springs slowly. There's also a plan with an open-air bath and a room. The large shared bath is very quiet, allowing you to slowly soak in the hot water. The amenities are also extensive, making it ideal for those with minimal luggage. A Dyson hair dryer is in the large shared bath and a SALONIA SL013BK hair dryer in the room. The rice was luxurious and delicious, and I almost felt hungry. The menu seems to change monthly, so check the official website. Ochazuke is available as a midnight snack from 9-11 PM. This was also very tasty.

It’s beautiful and in a really cute area of Tokyo that feels secluded and quiet. The dinner and breakfast service is calm. The onsen needs to be cleaned

An amazing, high-end yet traditional ryokan in a cool neighborhood not far from everything in Tokyo. The onsen was amazing. My wife and I used it at least once and sometimes twice per day. Small but comfortable rooms with Japanese charm. Beautiful style and good food. Treat yourself to something very different from the typical western hotel experience.

An authentic experience in a hip area of Tokyo. Close to the subway. Wonderful thrifting opportunities. A young and vibrant college atmosphere in the neighborhood. Don't miss the included Japanese breakfast and of course the Osen. The shower in the immaculate room was one of the very best I ever experience in my whole life.

Beautiful onsen and overall property. Lovely quiet relaxing location away from central Tokyo, but easy to travel to and from. Perfect end to a beautiful stay in Japan.

Conveniently located in a lovely quiet neighborhood. 1-2 min walk to the train station. Hotel is new and even prettier than the photos. We had the duplex room and it is one of the biggest rooms I have stayed in Tokyo. The main attraction is definitely the onsite onsen from Hakone. The reception can speak good English.

Absolutely amazing experience. We had access to the onsen, which was amazing. They give you robes to walk around in. We also took advantage of the Japanese breakfast. We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough! A bit secluded as well so a nice escape for the craziness of Tokyo.

This is our fifth time traveling to Japan and first time staying outside Shinjuku. And this is our best decision to stay at this hotel. It is still close to everything but at a very nice and trendy neighborhood. The whole neighborhood is homey and fun to walk around. The hotel onsen is amazing and clean. We really enjoy it every day after walking all day. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. And the breakfast is a must-have. We decided to make it our home for our future Tokyo visits.
