Ryokan Ichinao in Tokyo

Stayed there for about ten days and it was perfect for us. The innkeepers are so friendly and felt like family after a few days, a feeling that was also helped by the overall vibe of the house. The room was very clean (also cleaned very regularly during our stay), we had a fridge, a kettle and a sink, which was all we needed (also we were the lucky ones that got the upstairs bedroom with the private toilet). Transportation was easy to access, as there were multiple subway-lines nearby and Shinjuku is also in walking-distance (at least by German standards ^.^). The neighbourhood also offers a lot, so you don't even have to leave all the time to have a good daytime (or nighttime) experience.

Loved my stay here! Hosts are very kind, rooms are traditional and just what I was looking for at an accessible price to have your own private space in the city. Very close to a station that has multiple lines, well connected for shinjuku. A quiet little haven amongst the chaos of Tokyo! Bathrooms are shared but I never had to wait to use, they are well maintained. You also have access to a fridge, kettle, microwave if needed. The duvets and futon were comfortable too!

Friendliest staff! Place is perfectly located near MRT and plenty of super markets nearby. Rooms are traditional and minimalistic, all you need after a long walk through Tokyo is a place to sleep. Recommended for those without high demands.

It was just for one night, so I couldn't expect too much. When I booked, they said to contact them a day in advance, but no one answered the phone. I contacted Ctrip, who helped me resolve the issue. Check-in was self-service; you get a key from the room number's keypad lock. The soundproofing was terrible, but the room was fairly clean. The shower was on the first floor, which I didn't like because of the queue. I just went to sleep and checked out early the next morning. This guesthouse is only suitable for a casual night; don't expect too much.
