We stayed in the villas, which were very nice, but the only flaw was the cleanliness, which could be improved. The bed linens and first towels smelled absolutely awful, which was unpleasant

There were a few stains on various older furniture. The service and staff were very good, and breakfast and dinner were excellent

Since it's on the 7th floor, the ocean views are clear and far away, and the room is quite spacious compared to other Japanese hotels, so I had no problems staying there for three days

We came here with my family and we are all very satisfied. Although the hardware is a bit "retro" and not as digital as in China, I really like the island resort style here. The rooms and scenery are very beautiful

Because it was the off-season and rainy season, there were very few guests, but all the staff were considerate and made for a very satisfying trip. The facilities were new and clean. And the sea was very clear.

It’s a slower pace of life on Taketomi - that’s not a problem, and was exactly what we needed at the end of our trip - but there’s enough going on at the hotel and with the daily activities for you to be able to go exploring and still feel calm and relaxed

Hoshinoya Taketomi Island is truly a hidden gem, perfect for finding peace and completely unwinding. The environment is incredibly natural and the service is excellent; anything you need is promptly brought to your room

The best beaches on the island are in the west, and Hoshinoya is in the east, so we used the shuttle bus to move between the two

It’s a shame that the closest beach to Hoshinoya gets a lot of plastic washed ashore on the water currents and the tides - if the hotel could work with the local authorities to clean that up (despite not being caused by the hotel) that would help preserve the island’s nature and habitat

We booked the hotel restaurant in advance having read previous reviews suggesting it can sometimes be full, which whilst probably not necessary did mean we could choose our reservation timing - worth it to avoid having to eat early or risk the kitchen being shut

We had an excellent and relaxing 3-night stay which formed the culmination of a two week trip around East Asia, and after the liveliness of Seoul and Hong Kong was exactly what we needed to switch off and relax before heading back to the UK

You can go snorkeling directly from the hotel's small beach downstairs, but you'll need to rent a life vest. When there are fewer people, the snorkeling visibility is excellent

The room itself was clean, comfortable, and well soundproofed, so I wasn't disturbed by any outside noise. Just sitting by the window and watching the waves and the changing sky was incredibly therapeutic

They charge to rent the beach chairs and life jacket and will not allow guests to snorkel in the sea without one. The closest convenient store is a 4 minute drive or 20 minute walk

I'll definitely stay here again next year and hope the hotel adds more food and beverage choices. The 120 bus to the airport is conveniently located just across the street

The room is spotless, and there's a tatami area perfect for entertaining guests, chatting, or having tea. It's very quiet and comfortable

This place is too quite and is not recommended. But all rooms have great sea view but the beach is dirty.

Me and my husband accidentally booked a room that was roughly 60,000 yen. It was meant for 5 ish people. GREATEST EXPERIENCE EVER! After the original shock after we realized what we had just done

The unique long beach is also nice, but there's a lot of plastic trash on it. I looked it up and found it's related to its geographical location

The southwest coast of Miyako Island is affected by the Kuroshio Current and monsoons, making it prone to washing upboard trash from overseas during winter to spring

The hotel said they have staff and volunteers to clean it up, but the trash collection speed might not be able to keep up with the rate at which it washes ashore 😂

However, the seawater is still very clean, and the photos are beautiful. Walking outside the hotel is almost impossible; you might consider renting a car or taking a taxi

The bed was too soft and caused leg pain for my husband as a result he slept in the sofa bed, which opened into an “n” shape with the top and bottom sinking down. There was also a hard metal rod in the frame

We tried requesting for an extra duvet to make it more comfortable for him and was quoted ¥3000 for it. The room was old and dusty and floor didn’t feel clean and area underneath the bed was dusty

My husband said he didn't want to eat chicken rice, so I thought I'd have to hold back, but it was available at the breakfast buffet and the chicken broth was light, so I ate it easily even though I was full (lol)

Rooms consists of small individual villas with private pools and patio. One of the upsides were that the best beach in Miyako is a stone’s throw away

This hotel is front of east side occian of amami. When you stay you charge occan view room. You will watch grate sun rising from offshore on the blue sea. The room furniture is well wood used
