Matsunoki in Karakol

This is a lovely guest house run by a wonderful couple. It is located a short distance from the cathedral and restaurants and shopping. Our room was comfortable, and we loved the fact that the hosts are environmentally friendly, providing recycling bins and refillable soaps and shampoo. There is a large terrace upstairs and also a beautiful garden and porch downstairs. The wi-fi worked well. The breakfast, prepared fresh, included fruit, salad, breads, cheeses, eggs any way you want them and various desserts. In the neighborhood were many of the old, original wooden houses, which made walking around a pleasant experience. It was quiet at night as well. We enjoyed our two-night stay here.

Good location in town. Phantastic atmosphere by architecture, furniture, light. Comfortable space to meet, relax, enjoy tea and coffee. Rooms with good light, comfortable beds, perfect temperature of room, elegant design of interior/furniture, very clean and practcal bathroom. In summary a guesthouse, we were enthusiastic to stay and enjoy hospitality, consciousness of sustainability.

Let me tell you about the evening we found Matsunoki. After a long day of dusty roads and altitude headaches, we just wanted a shower and a bed. What we got instead was something close to magic. The gate opened to a garden that smelled of pine and flowers. Inside — polished wood everywhere, soft lighting, the quiet clink of teacups. The family who own it (a beautiful Kyrgyz-Japanese blend) welcomed us without any ceremony, yet made us feel instantly at home. A pot of fragrant green tea appeared almost by itself. Our room was small but perfect — everything in its place, crisp sheets, a window looking toward the mountains. That night I slept deeper than I had in weeks. It isn’t flashy. It’s thoughtful. Clean to Japanese standards, warm with Kyrgyz soul. Good water pressure, excellent Wi-Fi, kind people who remember your name. We came as guests. We left as friends of the house. If you ever pass through Karakol, give yourself the gift of Matsunoki. You’ll thank me over that second cup of tea. 5 stars — and all my gratitude.

Beautiful Japanese style guest house in a great location. The owner cooks a fabulous omelette at the wonderful breakfast. It is spotlessly clean and very well-appointed with comfortable beds and a real homely feel underpinned by the excellent, friendly and personal service

Love Matsunoki for the great breakfast, quiet rooms and hospitable staff. The location of the guest house is another great thing. There is a park, central square, local sites and restaurants. Attention to the detail is tuned to the maximum which one can see from the recycling boxes, different types of tea in the hall available 24 hours, carefully folded towels and etc.

Spent a week in Kyrgyzstan & this was our best accommodation by far. Friendly & helpful host. Immaculately clean, airy & well equipped. Also laundry available which was a bonus. Best breakfast including lots of fresh fruit & pancakes. Very central.

Matsunoki has such a wonderful vibe. Yuka is a lovely person and the service provided is great. Her Japanese Curry is worth trying.
The room we stayed in was big and comfortable and the location of Matsunoki is great; it's quite close to some of the tourist attractions. I highly recommend this place 😊

The best hotel in Karakol. I enjoyed its mattresses and pillows. Rooms are clean, warm and cozy. After skiing for 6 hours in minus 10, it is so great to return in the hotel which can be perceived as a home. Hot water, soft pillows, clean rooms. It is located in the city center. We ate out twice and once ordered a home-made Japanese food. The hotel organized for us a transfer service to a ski base. It serves great breakfasts and has a good wifi speed.

Very cosy and stylish hotel. Lots of natural wood all around the place. Great service and feels like at homes. Keep up the good work
