Reviews
Cleanliness: The room felt a bit dated, and the bathrobe was torn, but overall cleanliness was acceptable, and housekeeping did a decent job.
Service: The breakfast selection was very rich, featuring Chinese options like congee, fried dough sticks, and stir-fries, as well as Malay and Indian dishes.
Welcome cookies: Very delicious.
Positives - they celebrated my birthday with birthday balloons on the bed and a Birthday cake slice which was a lovely gesture. Hotel is a great location.
Negatives - It was very disappointing that our room (room 2302) had black mould in the bathroom.
Intermark mall downstairs. Easy to get food and groceries

But...These both doesn't happen when we dined in at Makan
And one more thing, all hotels so far we went before gave us 2 hours waived for parking; but not this hotel. Totally disappointed even at the end of the experience

The place athmosphere and the concepts are actually good. They offer Malay, Indian, Chinese, Thay and Japanese food concepts.
Facilities are nice, has toilet nearby including disability toilet.
Services are not too good. Some of the stalls are not looked after. For example there is ice cendol stall with no spoon. So we have to find the spoon somewhere else and take the ingredients by ourselves.
Variety of menu is average. The choices of fruits are less for luxury place like this.
The taste of foods should be improved. Comparing to Double Tree Hotel at Jakarta, the standard here is not good. We don't feel the taste of famous luxury hotel restaurant - that's why a lot of people would say not worthed the price (around 150RM/person).
Service - foodcourt standard
Ambience - 5 stars standard
Worst experience at a hotel buffet in my life. I go for buffet dinner 5 to 10 times a month. Usually went to Aloft/ Le Meridien/Seri Pacific and this time want to try out new place Double Tree Hilton Makan Kitchen. I trusted 5 stars hotel should have 5 stars food standard or at least 4 stars therefore I did not read any review before. And now I have learnt my mistake that I should have read the reviews out there before I dine in.
Let's talk about the food first. All local food except 1 baked chicken. Yes chicken. No beef/lamb main here. If you are a local food enthusiast you can come here for satay, rendang and briyani curry etc. but nthg special about local food these are easily available at any foodcourt and may even taste better. Murni Discovery mamak has better local food taste than here. But if you want 5 stars ambience and foodcourt standard local food then this is the perfect place for you.
Service. We are delighted as usual by the service provided by 5 stars hotel but not this hotel. We realised this when we got first impression that they did not provide napkin and no plate for used cutlery on table which are the basic things. We are not fussy so it is still very very fine ok for us. However, we started to get bad feeling when 1. the staff suddenly came n asked to pay the bill when we were half way eating. No restaurant ever did this to us not even mamak (unless those restaurants are closing their shop/counter and they will explain they are closing). 2. Staff said thank you and bye bye when we were about to go and pick our dessert, is ok we then informed her we weren't leaving. 3. Then when later we came back to the table our table is clean and our cutlery and drinks placemat were gone. Cant they confirm our leave, saw us stepped out then only clean up the table? We then need to wait for our cutlery. 4. When we want to leave we pass our parking ticket to the counter, all hotels so far we went before gave us 2 hours waived for parking but not this hotel. Totally disappointed even at the end of the experience.
I am very easy to be pleased. If food is good, service is bad, we will still be happy. If food is bad, service is good, we will still be happy. But these both doesn't happen when we dined in at Makan. I only gave bad review once before to a shopping mall restaurant years ago and this is my second time to write. And my first time getting 100% disappointment at hotel restaurant on both of their food and service. Definitely first and last time.
Come with great ambience that make you relax and make your appetite grows (an over statement by me).
Very bad and extremely slow service. But to be fair I think it's because the place is seriously understaffed. It will take you a good wait before you can be seated, receive the menu, have someone come take your order and for your food to arrive (in the right order). What do I mean by "in the right order" ? I ordered a pizza, soup and drink. The pizza came first and then 15 minutes later the soup (appetizer) and drink comes.
Maybe this was an isolated incident but it was a good enough experience for me to never go back there and to not recommend it to others, which is what I'm doing right now :) .
