Ocean Spa Hotel – All Inclusive in Cancun

The Worse vacation ever!!! The food is better in prison is what I heard! I never had food servered twice. Dinner burritos were re-used as breakfast burritos, and were crap 💩 the first time. The food made our bathroom smell like a port a potty 🚽. The only meat protein I saw was hot dogs. The other restaurant was barely tolerable. Been to many beach resorts, this beach was 200 yards wide with piers on both sides. Made the comment that why is no one in the water. Room was lousy, came with extra hair all around. Travel was free to the resort but was charge $38 for a group van or $68 for a private ride when uber was $24. What a ripe off!!!! Nickled and dime the entire time. They offered what they said was an incredible deal for another trip, I said keep it NO Thanks!
The Best part of our trip was when our bags were packed to go Home!! 😃

Two stars. We were affected by the huge eastern snow storm on Sunday 2/22 and Monday 2/23 which prevented us from flying out of Cancun as planned on Monday 2/23. Since the cancelation was weather related, and the next flights out weren’t until Thursday 2/26. This “all inclusive” was one of the cheapest options for the quick fix we needed and although it had some mixed reviews, we didn’t have much choice as the original hotel we were staying at (Ocean Riviera in Playa Del Carmen) was fully booked.

GUEST SERVICES: Everyone here was very nice and we have no complaints about any of the lovely receptionists or guests services. We were hesitant to take uber at first, and thankfully there are many taxi’s right on property. However, the hotel refused to send any taxi’s to pick us up which forced us to use uber. We used uber the rest of the trip because it was faster and much cheaper. No complaints with any of our uber drives, felt very safe. On our last day I asked for laundry service at the receptionist desk and was told to call the operator from my room. The operator advised they only pick up laundry in the late afternoon and it gets sent out of property and will take a minimum of 24 hours to be returned which didn’t help us since it was our last day and we left around 5am the following morning. On our second day, a paint-fume smell seeped into our room to the point I smelled it from the bed and it grew in intensity towards the bathroom and hallway. When I looked outside, there was a man painting the walls outside our door. The smell was very strong and we needed to leave the balcony door open for the rest of the day. By the afternoon of the 3rd day the smell was gone. There were some ceiling leaks in the lobby, but that didn’t affect or bother us.

BEACH&POOL: (CAUTION) We laid out on the beach but did NOT go in the water as we saw several water snakes pop their heads out of the water. Lots of seaweed, more similar to a marina than a beach. The pool is medium sized and there are two very small children sized pools next to the playground. The water was warm and clean, servers will come by you on and take orders. Photos on Expedia with actors are not accurate at all sadly.

COST: We paid $850 for 3 nights, plus a $50 hotel fee that covered the full stay and was paid when we arrived on property. Many other properties were looking for $1,500+ which just wasn’t in our budget since this extended trip wasn’t planned. The cartel issues and storm on the east coast caused many other places to be fully booked also.

Overall, the 2 star rating is for the convenience and location. This hotel is very similar to a New Jersey motel near the boardwalk (if you are familiar with that comparison) and cheaply covered us for the emergency we were in. If you stay here, I would sincerely encourage you to thoroughly check the room/bed before settling in and checking the toilet works. Be cautioned with the food, and use the close proximity to downtown Cancun as an excuse to explore!

Only one swimming pool. Its only 9pm no elevator. Waiting area no fan .

Front desk staff were not accommodating one bit due to our situation with the family, they made it so unwelcoming and made us feel like criminals, we will never recommend or stay there again. The only good part was the kitchen staff, housekeeping staff, servers and bartenders were nice and made a difference but because of the front desk staff never again! That first impression is a must cause it’s the face of the place. Daniel from Concierge was very nice and helpful.

I liked Fernando. He made great drinks and always had good customer service. Gabella was cool as well but when I asked for some assistance, she lied and said ok but never got ne the assistance i required. Nicandro was terrible at securing my safety against a crazed taxi driver who got out the taxi to berate me and another patron. Nicandro did nothing to remove the trespasser. The supervisor did nothing to make me feel secure either. I nevee even met him although his employees lied and said id be able to talk to him.
For the most oart, there is not much to do here. Its good cause its fairly close to the ave where the fun happens.
The food coukd be increasingly better. They only ever scanned mine and my company's bracelets when it came to dining because they said people kept taking food and not finishing it. Why am I getting clocked for not finishing my food at an all inclusive resort? The breakfast was nearly the same everyyyyyyyday. And no it wasnt the same in quality. Whoever they had on Sunday 04/06 should be hired for everyday at this point.
The beach was raggedy to say the least but i mean, hey. Its definitely in its natural state. So its ok. At least you can take the shuttle bus to Sundet Royale.

Great Stuff: The staff at the restaurant and bar was excellent - friendly and eager to please. Check in and out was quick and painless. The massage at the spa was awesome, but a bit expensive. The lobby was clean. The pool area was nice. Not so great stuff: The hallways and walls were dirty. No elevators - except for the spa on the 2nd floor - and we were on the 3rd floor. The bottom of the pool had chunks of the floor missing - saw a few bloody feet on adults and kids. The room: UGH! Very outdated and badly in need of repair. The bolt lock wouldn't latch and it looked like it had been kicked in at one time. No chain. The bathroom looked dirty due to scraped and chipped walls. We had 2 bath towels and they were rags. Had to ask for face and hand towels twice. The buffet was boring and the food is bland - we tried the Mexican, Oriental and Italian "cuisine" but absolutely NO flavor.
